When the Front wheel drive SIMCA 1100 was launched they had tie rods like this. Obviously the extra suspension movement used to knock the rubber bushes out as early in production they changed to a ball joint both ends. Some years ago I sold a SIMCA 1000 to two local lads who used it for forest rallies. The rough use meant I was supplying them with new bushes for every event. I suggested they did this mod and could have supplied the parts but foot & mouth intervened and when rallying resumed, they didn't.
