Thanks for looking. Owned this three years and looking for a new project now.
Engine rebuilt to high performance spec by Lemar Engines around ten years ago with paperwork to show 3.1 rebore with Powermax pistons at 10:1 compression ratio, Kent race profile camshaft, bigger valve cylinder heads and tubular manifolds to side exit Jetex exhausts. New Weber carb with a large air filter inside the hoodscoop, and the carburetor is suitably jetted for the upgrades. Steel timing gear fitted.
I've owned this car for around three years and have worked on it throughout to improve it with many new parts and upgrades added - too many to list but including New front shocks, springs and bushes, new Facet fuel pump and new fuel line with a pressure regulator. New battery, coil, HT leads, Accuspark electronic ignition and a rebuilt Vaccum advance module.
New brake disks, pads and brake hoses, new brake cylinders at the rear, new servo ... new speedo cable, rear gearbox oil seal, new windscreen rubber, side window rubbers, new gear shift, upper ball joints and track rod ends, tyres all new all the way round from North Hants tyres. Car comes with five 7"x14" Wolfrace wheels. Standard wheels on these are are 5.5" wide so this has a much meatier stance and rarer wheels.
There's too much to list!
Gear box is type 5 four speed with no overdrive, and it changes perfectly and makes no noises. Clutch is good and working as it should.
Interior is not standard Scimitar. The car came to me with no interior at all so I made my own. It has two good bucket seats and the back is decked so it's a long bed two seater with covered cubby holes for hidden storage. Trans tunnel is custom made and has a nice wide surface with grip matt so you have plenty of room for your wallet, keys, mobile phones and other stuff, and it doesn't slide around until you start losing the back end on corners!
Padded roll cage is custom design, bolt-in and removable, but also firmly fitted and good for protection. Roof lining was none existent so I made my own which also doubles as a sun visor but can be removed in two minutes if you wanted to do the roof lining properly. Rear hatch works on both hinges. A rarity on these, and mine was no exception when I got it, but I've fixed that and believe me fixing the rear hatch hinges on these is no fun at all.
What else... new fuse box and a new sump pan. Lots of new gaskets everywhere.
New alloy radiator from Scimitar supplier with new thermostat, new coolant hoses and a new fan and cowling.
Oil pressure sits perfectly at all times, as does temperature. Doesn't lose oil or coolant, alternator returns a steady supply and can cope with all ancilliaries without dropping on the dial.
It gets oil changes regularly, car gets all the attention it needs promptly. It's been much loved by me for three years.
It's a turn key daily driver, fast, powerful and dependable and I use it very regularly. It's been a lot of fun to own and drive for the last three years but I want a new project to work on now.
As you can see this not a standard car, and it's no show pony. It's a bare bones mini-muscle car that does what it looks like it does. It's not for the Scimitar purist.
Huge fun to drive, sounds great without being obscenely loud, and prompts people to throw themselves off the kerb giving it the thumbs up wherever it goes.
It still needs a couple of smaller jobs doing which I'm hoping to get done very soon, but as it sits its a drive away car in daily use. Could benefit from a new spray over of black paint, but it has a roguish charm with the paint job it's got.
