I’m going to look at a mk2 caddy van tomorrow and wonder, as I read somewhere recently if it’s a car derived van I won’t need specialist insurance is this true?
When I had the Inca van I had to get a van policy???
Also I’m just in the process of setting up self employed any specialist companies recommended for that?

Its been a while since I had to insure my own van but they were always treated as commercial vehicles, car derived or not, which meant the insurance was always more than the equivalent car!
I always used estate cars in the end with business use added onto the policy, worked out loads cheaper

I'd have a word with NFU, might not be the cheapest but they cover business use as standard and should be used to dealing with vans etc.

I use Coversure for my work van, they cover the insurance itself, also my liability and contents etc.

I bought a 2003 Hiace the other week for business use as I am going self employed. The price comparison sites will quote you for vans. I'm paying £238 including legals, breakdown cover etc. There is zero no claims on it as the insurer, basically, mirrors my full NCD I have on my car. Pretty painless tbh.

If the vehicle needs to be used for business/work purposes then it will need to be covered on a commercial vehicle policy. So it would be prudent to insure it on a van policy. We can assist with this, do give us a call on 01455 639 000 to chat further, would love to assist you. Many thanks

Got to say I love that piece written in one of the weekly classic papers about modified classics With input from a certain insurer “ yea we love a modified mx5 we’ve got one here” Yea of course you have..insert different car weekly!! “Yea the mods are great” Of course you know what your talking about! “And there will be a small increase in premium because of the mods” Of course there will I laugh everytime I read that page What a load of tosh......... Sorry to hijack your thread fella As said hope you find a suitable broker
