A rather unique event - The Jowett Car Club holds an employees reunion at the Bradford Industrial Museum around 60 - 70 Jowetts of all models attend - former employees of the Jowett factory at Idle in Braford are treated like royalty (the factory closed in 1954 so they are all in their 80's & 90's) Everyone is welcome - free of charge - the museum is also home to the worlds largest museum display of Jowetts along with lots of other Bradford based industries / equipment upon display - link to the museum below www.bradfordmuseums.org/venues/bradford-industrial-museum |

This is a wonderful gesture. How many of the original staff are still around? You have probably already done this but it is an ideal time to sit them down as a group and record their stories while you still can. This sort of 'round table'is a valuable record for the future. I have done it a few times.

I have done it a few times. We currently have 28 former Jowett factory employees - they all get a free a membership to the club and the club magazine is posted out them every month - we have lots details / stories & info all recorded from them - Very sadly they are all now of an age where we loose a few of them every year - we do however go out of the way to ensure that they enjoy this event even to the point of making arrangements for rides in the cars they helped build in the first place. |
