When I got the old door out of the garage loft, there was a crumpled ball of ribbed rubber matting that came from the inside. This was the original door lining material which, I believe, is now unavailable....so I have been straightening, flattening and re-assembling it. Phil - This just appears to be a after market sound deadening panel - Although sound deadening panels are common I cant recall ever coming across this has a factory fitted item in ribbed rubber - replacement sound deadening is readily available in the market - link below to favoured / most economical supplier - I just use the £6 self adhesive sheets for door skins www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/heat-shield.phpOr are stating that this was the original door card ?

Hi Grumpy Yes it is the original rubber door liner....and I now find that new ones are available - for £14 each.... so it is not sensible to try and save the original after all.

Frogeye don't have a door card as such, just the ribbed rubber stuck inside. They also don't have door handles on the outside, they're proper basic!

Still working on the rubbing down and the last major part is the panel below the front grille. This has been in the wars even before I bought the car when the front of the nearside wing had been bent. Over the years I had tried to get the profile right and so under the paint there is filler and underseal etc.....

It might look very similar to the previous picture but it is, in fact, getting a lot smoother and more even, as the old repairs are being remade.

I have stripped the bits off the dashboard top and the covered aluminium strip from the edge, so that it can be sprayed with the body colour. I have also started the spare door repair.

For a bit of a break from rubbing down I have repainted my roll bar brace.....and did a bit of sewing to repair various edges on my 45 year old tonneau cover.

A bit more spare door repair progress as the weld has been dressed back and a thin skim of filler applied. And I checked with my transport for the spraying and NEC...to find the garage closing down! Fortunately the owner is keeping his beavertail truck and will still be able to move the Sprite. I knew this would be a Saga!

Thanks Bazzateer, I too obviously love Frogeyes! After some more rubbing down and filling the Frogeye has been loaded up and is off to the spray shop where it will have it's first "professional" paint job. It is not to be a concours job, just a good working spray finish, which will be significantly better than my effort!

I forgot to say that I swapped batteries and got the engine started! This was in case the winch on the beavertail was out of action. Fortunately the winch worked....which was more than my clutch did! I suspect the seals have gone in the slave and/or master cylinders - unsurprisingly, so another job, but not essential for the Show.

Wayne, at SnowSpray, has been hard at work. He has done some more body prep, sprayed a barrier coat and three primer/filler coats. These will harden off over the weekend, have a bit more smoothing and then the colour and clear coats go on....

Those wheels really suit it, even before you've got the fresh paint on. Looking forward to seeing it all done in its nice new paint.

I'm putting this on the list of cars that I must see at the NEC! I'll be there with my silver XJ40. It's funny how the list of jobs before November suddenly get more urgent! Although you're doing considerably more than me!!

Thanks vulgalour, redblock and dazstap Well, it is just under four weeks to the Show and I need to go and buy a few bits to help with the putting together, mainly the rubber housings for indicators, tail lamps and headlamps. I will also need some fittings and fixings for the tonneau cover.
