I sold my 1993 1.8 16v XR2i a few years ago. It had a lot of money & time spent on it. Carters at Chapeltown did the bodywork for me as it needed lots of it doing. My fuel filler looked like yours but the inner wing & arch under it were rotten. I have lots of pictures of the trauma. I did enjoy driving it though

Plus I wasn’t in a position financially to keep it and sort it so I sold it on! Just a small sample I won’t be getting rid of this one though (I always say that)

Gave the car a quick wash this evening before a meet up with a couple of mates in the peaks. One has a C63 AMG and the other a Golf R Estate. I would love both. But I was definitely having more fun haha. Then took it back to the garage to park it up with its older brother. Then got to drive this home. Couldn’t be more different considering they are from the same era and both 1.8 16v motors

Well over a year later and the 2i is still going strong.
Passed its MOT in January with little to no issues. I have had to remove the ABS system though as that was causing only one front brake to work!
It’s booked in for a bit of love soon in the form of a custom exhaust and fitting of some GAZ coilovers.
I don’t get to use it much but still love it

Finally got some original 16v alloys and new tyres for the old girl! I also noticed one of my rear anti roll bar brackets had snapped. So I’ve recently sourced a new (secondhand) rear beam complete with arb and swapped over the arb. New one fitted Might keep the original one and tart it up and employ the old school double arb trick. I’ve also got a Puma gear linkage to fit which give a shorter throw along with adaptor bracket. And a sneaky one of the coilovers I’m hoping to fit in the next week or so! Just a view from the drivers seat as I love 80s/90s fords

Such a cool little car. I used to dislike the Fiestas, but I've really developed a soft spot for them. Would love to own one for myself now. Keep up the good work!

Spent a bit more time on the 2i tonight. I recently got hold of a Puma gear linkage which is supposed to give an approximately 50% shorter shift while being cheap OEM but at the expensive of the self centring of the standard shifter. As the ib5 box on a Puma has the spring in the box where as the bc on the 2i is in the stick. I used an adapter plate which a lad locally makes. Also good for other ford cars mk1&2 fiesta and 3&4 escort I believe. It all bolted up rather easily without removing the exhaust but I had to get the original exhaust heat shield out of the way. Surprised it was still there and intact to be fair. Puma shifter and adapter on the left. Bolted into the car you can see it’s a little longer but fits just fine. Trim back on a shifter adjusted it’s all good and feels great. I might have to have a go at the coilovers this weekend. I’m just not sure if I should wait till I get the exhaust sorted as it hangs low and catch on the drive at the current height.

Managed to get the shifter fitting better and working like a charm. Anyway on to more exciting news. I took the car to the garage to get a custom exhaust fitted and my coilovers installed. And I’ve just received these pictures. I’m so happy with the work. It looks and sounds awesome. And one of how it’s sitting after having the coilovers installed. Before After, it will be getting a bath tonight! So pleased with how it’s turned out.

I have recently acquired a MK3 Escort and the shifter appears to be knackered (really sloppy). Fiesta looks like a great little car, a lot tidier than my Escort that's for sure!

I’ll get it brushed off, treated and coated. But I am currently looking to sell to fund a camper van, more of a family thing than something just for me.

Well the XR2i is still with me and sailed through another MOT, i'm still in two minds if i should sell or not and go don the camper route. At the minute i'm on the keep, enjoy and clean up side of things for the time being. So I've ordered a few bits and will get it serviced and the underside cleaned up
