Here's my car, a Rover 218 diesel with 209,770 miles on it. It's rough and tired, so I'm not going to treat it nicely. My idea is to create something post apocalyptic and end of world style. Ideas greatly appreciated but remember this is on a budget! The car. The idea...

there's loads of inspiration on tinterweb but it probably comes down to what materials you can beg , steal (metaphorically of course) , or borrow. i'm sure a morning of skip raiding would yield results. inspiration and just in case you come across a herd of cyclists....

Seen this on the R8 page. If any of the panels are good, do deals with people with non-good ones. Go for a right mishmash of states?
Bit of patina.
Then either low and slow, or lifted.
As you observed, a 220k mile car, that's in poor state, is not worth restoring.

To be honest, apart from the bonnet, there is rust on every panel!

Not a fan of that 200 to be honest. There's a broad line between survivor and deliberately curse word, and I think that borders on absolutely hideous. Just an option of course

Been messing about a bit, mostly with stuff I had lying around and with a lot of influence from my 7 year old son, who thinks this is so cool! I'm not happy so far, I think the wheels are a bit too nice, and the overall look is too 'forced'. But we will see how a few weeks dirt and paint peel make it look.

I'd remove that roof rack, something like a black Paddy Hopkirk one set closer to the roof would look better, imho of course

As you say, I think the wheels look too clean
A quick way of checking would be to drive down a country/farm track and back again...
Anyway, carry on

As it was, it may have been better to keep the patina it had in the bumpers, matt black the rest of it and let it age. As it is, paint the silver part of the wheels black and go over the rest of it in a coat of black to tone down the logos. I'm amazed that rover's got over 200k on it!

I agree.....let your son do it......"and with a lot of influence from my 7 year old son, who thinks this is so cool!" You will have the coolest possible the silliest car but you will be the best dad ever and you have nothing (much) to lose!!
