I still properly love this van. As Grumpynorthener said its so well executed. For me I think theres been a very clever use of custom bits and pieces all over the van, but they somehow don't take anything away from its originality. I remember seeing pics of minis that had been 'remastered'.
THIS is how its done.

I like it - like it a lot - really well executed & finished with great attention to detail - only thing I don't like is the sign writing - not so much the style of it just that 'Speedshop' appears to be obvious wording for the majority of vans & pickups on the scene - but don't worry about what I like and my mutterings it's just a personal thing - 'Bloody Nice Van' - Mister Thanks grumpy..great to see it nearly finished just the small bits of trim /grille etc to take care of and any snagging that comes along..no worries on the sign writing as its vinyl I can change it if I fancy a change

Thanks BMC That was the aim just to improve what's there and make subetly different but not obvious until you keep looking ..As for the 'remastered' the brains behind that clearly have no idea how to improve (Ruin) a classic icon and think throwing a bunch of so called bespoke parts at it will suddenly make it worth the cost of two genuine Cooper Ss...They need a lesson like you say 'this is how its done"..Thanks Mark..

Thats just it. My idea of something being remastered, be it a film, or music, is that everything thats there is fine tuned and improved on, with minor bits added to freshen it up without taking it away from what it was. The 'remastered' ones are more like a remix. Take the bits you like and add what you want with no regard for originality. Doesnt mean I don't like them, I just wouldnt call them 'remasterd'

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you make your own take on an achingly cool version of a vehicle that looks "period". Lovely.

Cool. The surround will make a huge difference. The grill is already perfect, I love how its so much like the rest of the van, a custom touch that takes nothing away from its originality, its like the only standard 'oem' grill a mini never had. Its very BMC looking.

Its very BMC looking. Chroming is taking ages to get done at moment so probably be a winter project..from a distance the grille almost disappears and resembles the van pressed panel ..so its a mix of both ..I will try and get a picture to capture the effect.. Although I've not seen it with the surround fitted to compare I like the look has it is - reminds of how they finished 50's / 60's race cars - I think the testing station was taking a liberty - they ought to have cleaned & polished that 4 post ramp before the van went on to it

Lovely. How do you get on with the little mirrors ? I always found on my clubby estate (poor abused first car) that the view from the rear view mirror was lacking so defaulted to using the big side mirrors - IIRC clubby estates had bigger side mirrors to give more vision. James

I read the threads and builds on here with a mixture of wonderment and admiration for the skill, love and vision people show when building and recording their highs and lows. But this is on another level. It's the epitome of classic cool, magnificent, awesome, beautiful etc, etc. I honestly can't think of complementary words to describe the lovely thing you have given new life to. If this was mine I would love to rock up to somewhere like the casino in Monte Carlo in it and have the valet to park it amongst the Rolls, Bentley's and Ferrari etc. And watch as all the people would admire it. Because it surly would be the coolest car there!
