Damn. Living the dream, I can only hope my mini turns out like any of yours lol.
What's the paint you used for the block and rocker? I'm trying to make mine look a bit more period as it's the 'newest' one I've ever had being an MPi, that said, it's the newest I've had but also the one with the most rot. Needed new subframes, whole front end, both floors, battery box, valances and scuttle. I bought as many heritage panels as MiniSpeed had at the time and it was eye-watering.

Thanks keeping it simple is the key..the paint is standard BMC green engine paint most mini suppliers sell it in aerosol or brush on..yes panels are not cheap..repros can work in certain areas but its always best to pay for the real deal..

I'm intrigued, what's that lurking in the 3rd picture with your newly cleaned engine?

Why fit in, when you were born to stand out? Dr Seuss

I'm intrigued, what's that lurking in the 3rd picture with your newly cleaned engine? Yes that A series would be a little under powered to move that.
Come on spill the beans?

Well..that belongs to my friend who owns the garage who also happens to be my neighbour..I met him when i first left school at a restoration company we worked for and have been good friends ever since as we share the same passion in turning out sharp restorations with a bit of engineering thrown in..We both work in the fabrication/engineering world which is very useful when doing these types of builds..The truck is a 1952 chevy 3100..What you carnt see in the picture is 2 years and lots of hurdles to get over which at first seemed to never end and lots of head scratching..All of which have been dealt with and its down to a few small details before it can be taken apart to paint and prep everything..The clever part is all underneath ..all of the suspension/brakes engine/ gearbox have been grafted into the chassis of the truck..the donor vehicle being a Audi 4.2 V8 Quattro 4WD RS4/6...Its planned to be used as a daily so will have the best of both worlds..looking cool and munch the miles with modern reliability and plenty of power .. This was a early pic taken with the basic running gear in place.. Untitled by

They look really cool but I think those tea strainer style filters kill performance.

You should ask him to start a thread on it?

We have spoken about this but he's not keen on the thread thing and would rather spend the time on the truck..i will keep a regular update if people are interested..I follow your corsair build with great respect..i used to work with a guy who had a 4dr v6 on banded steels..and a local guy had a lovely 2dr with a lotus twin cam in it..both great cars i remember from school days..

So something that is vital in any build is the correct wheel choice...at first my choice was limited as originally i was going to keep the bigger brakes it came fitted with for 12"wheels ..12"steels would work but choice wise very poor or i opt for something banded which then meant i would need to fit arches which i don't won't..This choice soon changed when the cost to rebuild my 12"disk set up was not far off buying a new conversion kit for 10"wheels which then opened up massive choice in wheels...Fast forward many months and nothing really taking my fancy i spotted a set of wheels just listed on the bay which had been sat the owners garage for many years although very tatty were perfect to restore..
