If the fabric on the drivers seat is ok, you could fo what I did and swap the foam from a passenger seat donor giving you a nice firm drivers seat 👍🏻 That could be a shout if the fabric is ok, i’ll maybe still keep an eye out for leathers if they came up at a decent price, i think they’d be a good addition Its a slippery slope! Collect the whole set lol. I was looking at buying another but ive been told two is enough. I know the feeling, I wish I only had 2 sometimes Mot history doesn’t seem too bad Just the usual easily rectified bits No rust failures That’s what I thought, seemed a genuine enough car from the previous mots..... hopefully it is

Well, a couple of friends picked the car up for me while I’m away, done around 90 miles and said it’s driving great... Few things needing sorted, front splitter missing, lower dash missing and a couple bits of trims, needs a good clean, traveller exhaust that is kind of screwed together, small scab on drivers door, it’s had a respray, no orange peel but needs flattened back as it’s a bit dull, had a windscreen replacement after the respray and can see the edge of the paint, drivers side door handles aren’t working, and the locks have a different key (common issue on corrado apparently due to weak handles and people just changing out full handles with locks) - meant to be an easy fix by retumbling the locks Good points.... as I say, drivers great, has had 3 new callipers and carriers at some point, had new brake pipes at some point, rear spoiler works (friend didn’t want to test the sunroof, said I can be responsible for that ) And then they sent me a load more photos.... I don’t think it’s ever going to be a mint example worth mega money, but the fact I got it at what I think was a fair price, I’d be tempted to maybe have a little fun with it, do some changed but keep the original bits so that I can change them back if / when prices do rocket .....

That looks very nice! That would be my suggestion too. A few little tweaks to improve handling, suspension etc., maybe a fresh stainless system (it is a VR and that thing should be allowed to sing!), but keep all the original parts so with an afternoons spannering it can be returned to stock. Unmolested Rado's are only gonna go up in value for sure. Very jealous, would love a VR in my life!

Unmolested Rado's are only gonna go up in value for sure. Very jealous, would love a VR in my life! I had even thought about chucking the full obd1 vr6 turbo I have sitting doing nothing, it’s a straight swap, can use the corrado loom I believe, Chuck my ecu in, and then just sort the exhaust and inter cooler paperwork (I’d assume mk2 exhaust won’t be a million miles from fitting) as I’d keep the 2.9 and could swap it back over whenever I wanted/needed too. I wouldn’t have to butcher anything up, so I am tempted Got a set of BC racing coilovers that can go onto it too... Looks great and as good as the Wheeler Dealers VR6 nothing that can't be sorted in good time a nice project car for the summer. I’ve still not seen that episode. But I would like to get this tidied up and a few things sorted for may, I’d really like to get down to the weekender!

I’d still be tempted to leave that be. Apart from induction/exhaust.
Anyway... you gonna swap me that rallye for my 20vt mk2?

Well..... I got home on Wednesday night, picked the car up Thursday evening... It's not too bad, it has had money spent on it a few years ago, with all the right intentions, but perhaps just not enough, for example, there is a £2600 invoice from 2014 for a respray, it's not the worst, but it has been done with all the window rubbers still in, at the same time the wheels were all shot blasted and painted, it's had brake pipes done, and looks like it's had 3 new calipers. There is also a FSH (mostly VW) up to 2009. The interior is tired as thought/seen in the photos, and there is some surface rust under the car, but I plan to get that cleaned up and get some Hydrate 80 on it hopefully over the next week. The drivers door wouldn't open, but that turned out to be just a sticky lock mechanism, which i've sorted. I had it out last night, and the wipers decided to stop working in the lovely scottish rain, but after a quick inspection today, it's just the linkage that has popped off, I'll need to get some circlips and it'll be sorted. Going forward, it's certainly a usable retro daily, which has me extremely happy being behind the wheel of a VR6 again. I'll tidy it up a bit as time goes on, i'll probably build up my spare engine with a turbo set up with the aim of around 420bhp. That engine may end up in this for a short period of time(keeping the 2.9 in the garage to be dropped back in) The red G60 corrado shell i think i'll end up selling/swapping (don't really need two corrados/can't justify it) The mk2 golf, despite it requiring a fair amount of welding, and me considering selling it instead of the G60 corrado, it turns out i'm pretty attached to it, and can't bring myself to sell it, so I need to pull the finger out of my rectum and get on with welding that. Eventually the 420bhp turbo set up will go into that.... Depending on if I go out offroading tomorrow, I may attempt re-tumbling the locks in this corrado so everything is back being operated by one key instead of the three keys i'm currently walking around with

Whats the secret to this re-tumbling of the locks? Both my corrados have multiple locks.

That looks to be a nice "honest" car if you know what I mean...and one that will clean up quite nicely with a bit of work.
There's a VR6 Golf that lives nearby here and I get slightly envious every time I hear it burble past and then June unmistakable howl as it vanishes off up the main road. They really don't sound like anything else do they...

Whats the secret to this re-tumbling of the locks? Both my corrados have multiple locks. So far it's not been too bad, it's currently getting the interior all shampood and a valet as we speak... But yeah, the VR noise is one I don't think i'll ever tire of... I've yet to try re-tumbling the locks, but the guide is here wiki.the-corrado.net/re_tumbing_locks.htmlIt's an old guide, as the parts are now £70 That looks to be a nice "honest" car if you know what I mean...and one that will clean up quite nicely with a bit of work. There's a VR6 Golf that lives nearby here and I get slightly envious every time I hear it burble past and then June unmistakable howl as it vanishes off up the main road. They really don't sound like anything else do they... It's certainly been looked after at point in its life, I went through the receipts/invoices that came with it yesterday, and there's one for a £2600 respray back in 2014.... It's just a shame that the work doesn't match the price, especially when invoice says full strip down, but yet it's obvious the respray has been done with the windows still fitted. They certainly do have a unmistakable sound...

You say "£2600 respray back in 2014.... It's just a shame that the work doesn't match the price" well maybe it does math the price that's the sort of quality work I would expect for that price probably £2k for the labour and £600 for the rest, at least someone has tried to look after it in the past.
Well it's in good hands now.

Super cool car. Cleaned up and driven, or modded- either way, it's a win. I like 400+ hbp though.

It would appear that you car has been spared the level of bodgery that has been applied to some 'rados. Some of the tales that I have heard lead me to think that there is a special place in Bodging Hell for a small number of Corrado owners....

Great cars when not rotten, and yours looks good. There used to be a guy specialising in these near me in Buckingham advertised mostly through the bay of evil....

This is true, however for that money, i'd have hoped for less/no runs or micro-blistering, but as you say, at least someone has tried to look after it. As much as I say the paintwork isn't the best, in terms of using it as a daily, it's good enough, and it means i'm not worrying about stone chips all the time! Super cool car. Cleaned up and driven, or modded- either way, it's a win. I like 400+ hbp though. Thanks, yeah, my last set up was 272bhp and 272ftlb, and it went well, again the noise is the big attraction, especially with the screamer pipe. If the turbo set up does end up in this car, it would probably be temporary until the other car is ready for it, but I shall see what happens It would appear that you car has been spared the level of bodgery that has been applied to some 'rados. Some of the tales that I have heard lead me to think that there is a special place in Bodging Hell for a small number of Corrado owners.... Ohh? So far i've not uncovered any, but that's not to say it doesn't have them, what are the bodges you've seen/heard of? It'll give me something to look out for Great cars when not rotten, and yours looks good. There used to be a guy specialising in these near me in Buckingham advertised mostly through the bay of evil.... It does have surface rust along the sills and on the inner lips of the arches, but my plan is to get it rubbed back asap and treated, hopefully keep it at bay!

What bodges? scotchlocs, lots and lots of scotchlocs! plus random bits of wood, cable ties, and jubilee clips. And shonky filler.

I was at Errol when this went for sale, it looked like a good car apart from the odd little niggle, seemed like it would tidy up well to me.

Ahh, yeah that sounds bad, but someone somewhere will always class it as an acceptable fix! I was at Errol when this went for sale, it looked like a good car apart from the odd little niggle, seemed like it would tidy up well to me. Ahh excellent, it does need time spent on it, but whether or not I end up spending the time required is another thing, got quite a few things all needing my time at the moment Also burst a heater hose on Tuesday, just as I was leaving to head to Aberdeen for a couple days courses.... Dumped in the drive and Patrol to the rescue
