Hi Ant, On the menu above when in "Full Reply Mode", there is an icon which is a world globe with a page. Click that and paste in your link (which I copied from the address bar in another tab having found your other thread). forum.retro-rides.org/thread/207993/ants-1973-lada-2101-savedYou can use a description in the "Link" box and the actual address in the "http" box. If you look at my signature, you will note that I have put links to all my (relevant) threads in there. You might consider the same. Craig

Its been a while because of my other ongoing project (and thread) but as that seems to have gathered its own momentum I think its high time we had an update over here One of the reasons this thread has been quiet is the fact that i appear to have misplaced a large number of photos Believe me I have been turning the house upside down looking for that blasted memory card...but so far have drawn a blank! Fortunately I have enough images to be getting on with so lets make the best of it and get started I had already ordered a new lower bulkhead panel so whilst we await its arrival lets get the floors and sills sorted so we can introduce some strength into the cabin I guess its time to start cutting out some rust starting with the drivers side (left handdrive) Blimey...note the wooden prop its stopping any downward flex....no need for welding props in door shuts etc...Ive done worse than this and due to the thin ness and consequent flexibility of metal I know I can make everything fit where it needs to fit....trust me I know what I'm doing

Get on with it teaboy So lots and lots of cutting out and propping up with rotten pieces of firewood...not to mention lots of missing memory cards and carefully taken pictures of work in progress and we have some progress to report... Now I know Its not original....I know Its not perfect...or factory finish..but my intention was always to “restore” it to how it was when my old mates “fatman and Louis built it” It was always a rough old dog....and I felt passionately that that is how I should restore it to be....It was a prototype for Louis and my best friends car....More importantly it was the car in which I travelled across Europe in in order to join my Hungarian girlfriend who is now my wife....It is the van that broke down in the middle of the Hungarian equivalent of Piccadilly circus with a broken throttle cable in rush hour.....the van which was pushed onto a traffic island by lots and lots of heavily armed Hungarian policemen (all smiling and laughing i might add) in order to facilitate the progress of the newly elected Hungarian president victor orban (who I like to imagine noticed a rotten rusty old grey van on Uk plates plonked right in the middle of his victorious route on the most famous and iconic traffic island In Hungary Lots and lots of memories which is why I am still persevering with this one.....Its still not finished by the way If anyones still interested there is much much more to come......ps the broken throttle cable was fixed (to much applause by a drunken friday night crowd and the aforementioned heavily armed and friendly policemen) by me carefully removing (ie ripping out) the right hand side speaker cable in order to attach it to the carburettor (hand throttle ftw ) Anyway Please comment as it makes my day.....I know its rubbish but I hope it’s interesting rubbish to some of You......the van with no name has now been “stabilised” and is safely sleeping in a dry shed....its not finished.....should I finish it? Should I get it on the road? It can be done but Ill leave the decision up to you retro riders.....What do you lot reckon......I'm not kidding....its up to You!

I'd like more of this interesting rubbish, so please go ahead, finish it and get in on the road! ASAP! btw. my citroen buddy mentioned that his own van was fixed in hungary, but he can´t remember details as it was back in 2005/6. The old email adresses do no longer work. But one should be able to find details on the book of farce.

Pics of the breakdown or it didn't happen 😝 Hi sciclone You raise an interesting point and I want to make it clear that I do understand the irony Re taking pictures Now that is a tall order....as being surrounded by a load of armed police (good humoured but heavily armed) plus the fact that it happened before the event of cameras on smartphones...further compounded by the fact that at the time I owned neither a smart phone nor a camera plus the fact that I was stuck on a pedestrian traffic island in the middle of Budapest...I'm sure You can forgive me for being “otherwise engaged”.....Its fun to look back on it....but believe me I'm glad its over I do know what You mean though......and on a serious note we are indeed now living in a world where we all feel obliged to pull out our smartphones in order to capture anything significant that happens in our lives That is why there’s no pics And that is why people look at a beautiful view through a 3.5” retina display despite the fact that the real thing is right in front of them However there were plenty of people (ie tourists and commuters taking pics of me fixing the van whilst suffering a major panic attack)....so I'm sure there is a pic somewhere (probably on that CIA database) commonly known as facebook There endeth the end of “ants rant” for today

Thanks mate.....but don’t worry I'm on the case.....my life is full of unfinished projects.....this one means a lot to me though....I'm going to finish it....loads of views on this thread.....very few comments though.....so thank you an unfinished thread is “very annoying to say the least” so You will all have to bare with me and understand that progress will be slow but I will post prolifically After all every day is a victory to me and as long as I do something on one of my many projects I'm happy Check out my other threads...theres always something going on

This project deserves to be finnished and the RR community needs its dose of antopipac rants! You have entertaining threads, not the shiniest or fastest cars(very far from it :-) ), but the entertainment value is great! Keep up the good work, we will cheer you on!

Yeah, I said that with tongue firmly in cheek, just to let you know someone was reading.
I love photography, and have multiple cameras, but I don't feel the need to photo/post every minor thing that happens in life. Don't get me started on those pretentious iPhone ads either...
Not that I'm some sort of photo snob or purist, but I feel the art of the capture is being lost. Too many rely heavily on post-production/filters/etc to fix up their mistakes, which could be resolved by taking the time and composing the shot properly.
/rant
Show us more rusty Citroen's to indulge our voyeuristic tendencies.

I know mate and I hope I apologise if I came across as over sensitive and spiky.....please rest assured I did get Your point...and more importantly the spirit of Your point . I have no skills/understanding of post production (as I'm sure you’ve all noticed) My biggest concern when trying to take a pic in the workshop is trying not to drop the i pad due to oily hands..... Well that and trying to frame it in a way that doesn’t show my ugly mug reflected in a windscreen etc I'm fortunate to live in one of the worlds “beauty spots” and all I see as I drive gingerly through the tourists is them taking selfies (always in “portrait mode) i hasten to add. I mean...honestly...why bother coming here if all they will take home is a hangover and a load of portrait mode pics of beautiful landscapes ruined by their ugly drunken heads centre frame? Oh dear hang on....this has become another “ants rant”.......I blame You sciclone .

Drive through the tourists and when fly off your bonnet and the officer asks, just say they're drunk and stepped out in front of your car to take a selfie without watching the road. Then they'll have a memorable story about the time they went to Hungary.
