Here - jonsey - what are you going to do with all that space once it's finished - good job you are not down the road from me I'd be filling it up for you First off Grumpy I’ve got to empty it of all the curse word I’ve thrown in there to sort out later. I’ve got 2 mk2 Astra GTE’s I need to sell. There is also the world’s most rotten mk2 Escort belonging to a mate that’s in there so that needs to go. I plan to keep my car transporter trailer and box trailer in there to keep away from thieving Pikies that come down my drive. Also need to get the van in there too as it’ll be a drier than the wood store as that has no hard standing on door. So sadly no room for your stuff😁

Wow nearly finished the new roof section of this project, nice. Thanks Pete. It’s nearly there. A couple of days to brick the gables then it’s just the soffits and gutters

With the roof on, my plan today was to remove the old tin sheet roof. But first I had to remove about 12 asbestos type corrugated sheets that were just laying on top of them. They were thick with moss and pretty heavy before taking them off the scaffold I scraped the moss off. It’s going to cost me a bit to get rid of these. There’s about 25 in total. So it’s gone from this To this A huge amount of rotten leaves etc has come off the sheets. I’ve swept up 2 full wheel barrows already and there’s plenty more to go. I’ve also got the task of clearing the place up. It has just been used as a dumping ground for the last 4 years. Stuff that you want to keep, but your not sure why. I have already filled the trailer ready to take to the tip tomorrow. Mostly moulded tool boxes that I more longer have the tools for. It’s not as bad as it looks. I think a couple of days with a ruthless attitude will see a lot of difference made. I’ll cut out the old steel structure next weekend once the gables are built and the whole building is tied together. I’m a day off work a week Thursday so I’ll be doing another couple of runs to the local scrappy to dump the sheets and whatever else gets culled. I had £41 for a couple of car batteries and a trailer full of fencing last week. I also sold the 2 scrap ride on mowers this week on eBay for £50 and a ride on mower trailer needing tires for £30. It all helps to pay for the new roof.

I believe i mentioned that i liked the workshop where your Ford is in and now you have this as an additional workshop storage place. It is huge and now it is higher, it is much better usable. Great place you have there. I have been looking at places outside town centers like farms but my wife does not want to live outside the town center so i have to stick to my 50 sm workshop which is not bad but fully filled Peter

Looking good and starting to come together nicely, rather jealous of the space you're going to have at the end 😉

It will now be a good usable storage space. I lived in a town, rebuilt our house and when I finished the neighbour applied for planning to turn their house into 7 flats. Needless to say we moved to where the nearest neighbour is 100m away. The garage was a bonus

I’m now up to 5 wheel barrows of Moss and compost off the old roof that I’ve had to shovel up. Still a couple to go. I’ve started to make some space though. I’ve emptied about another trailer’s worth of scrap from there. I’ve started putting some stuff on eBay too. I’ve got two old compressors to got shot of, and a very old Reciprocating saw. I’m also thinning down my collection of wheels. This is the hardest bit 😩. Hopefully I’ll get a few pennies towards the cost.

That's a nice roof, insulated as well! I should think if you studded and boarded the walls out inside that would make a really nice space!

That's a nice roof, insulated as well! I should think if you studded and boarded the walls out inside that would make a really nice space! It would be nice to board it, but as there is no dpc under the walls and the outside is only going to be painted and not rendered, I think it I’ll be better just to let it breath so it doesn’t harbour any damp. I won’t be working in there much, just the van really as it won’t fit in the new garage as it’s too tall.

The builders turned up at 9 as I left for work. Mixer was out of fuel so I lent them a can to go get some. When I got home they said the mixer belt snapped and they had to strip my mixer with a broken switch to borrow the belt. That took them 2 hours. Anyway they made a start with 4 courses on the rear gable and lintel on the front. They have to do lots of cuts tomorrow so progress will be slow

Rear gable is now fully blocked and front gable just has the very top cuts left. The builders then mentioned they were going to cut the roof sheet over hangs off. The rear only has an inch or so but the front is a good foot. Now I like the over hang. It stops the rain blowing back round to the doorway and gives you a bit of shelter if you need it, so I’ve asked them to leave it. They’re going to extend the purlins out tomorrow to give the roof trims something to screw to. I think this is the best way of doing it? Work asked me today if I would like to finish half day as I had some time owed. Yes please I replied. So I went home, put all the old steel roof sheets onto the car transporter trailer and went to the scrap yard. Whilst there throwing the sheets off the trailer, one of them caught my stomach and sliced it open I now have a 3” cut across my belly with an 1” of that through to the fat. The Mrs wasn’t happy. More about the fact that I had the afternoon off and she was in work. She’s a nurse so she’ll have to fix my belly. It’s only fair. I’ve got to fix everything bl00dy else! But let’s look on the bright side. I got £50 for the sheets 👍

Up to date with your tenatus?
Also, re the 'asbestos' sheets: are you sure they're asbestos and not just concrete and some other fibre?
