new carb is running great adjusted the needle to the richest setting, runs best on this setting runs too good now i struggle to keep the speed down on the motorway, slightest touch of throttle and it going over 100 kph i try to keep at 80 kph to be kind on the little engine but it seems to just want to go now pics from Tatton park classic car show won trophy for best German car, i guess the judges are bored of seeing the same shiny Mercedes and vw's

trabant tipped on its side to make it easier to work on the underside the exhaust pipe at the front catches the ground due to being lowered so the exhaust is going to be modified to run above the wishbone ( between the wishbone and driveshaft) while its tipped I'm also going rustproof it and apply bilt hamber dynax ub to the underside to preserve the rust free shell you can buy a kit to tip a trabant but the post cost from Germany makes it too expensive to buy i only need the swivel stands so i made my own

i know it only weighs a little more than a family bag of wotsits...but that looks a little scary set up to me. great for access though!!

I would love to have the tilting stands and jack, but as you say they go for silly money.

as in a previous post when i lowered the car i modified and repositioned the exhaust so it fitted tight up against the subframe to give more clearance but this still wasn't enough and the exhaust still makes contact with the road making a big flat spot on the pipe front pre silencer/expansion chamber lifted up by cutting and removing 8mm and rewelding, its not a lot but every little helps to gain more clearance holes cut and crossmember tubed for exhaust to run through exhaust made, tacked ready for removal and fully welding, flexi joint fitted exhaust cut out valve relocated crack/corrosion in crossmember, i previously tried to repair this last year but the welder was playing up and i was lying under the car trying to repair this so i just gave up, i have cut my previous plate off and started again repaired and strengthened, i need to remove carpets before i weld the top bit to the floor

Just because there's a rulebook doesn't mean you have to read it.
