	There has been some bad weather up here over the weekend / end of last week. So the bodyshop is about a week behind - all the rear bonded windows are coming out today. I'm going up to the bodyshop later this week to get pictures of the shell & an update / plan of action with the body shop owner. Looks like We will be doing the rebuild in 3 stages.... Stage 1:- Repair around front/rear windows & fit new windows. Also fix hole in boot floor. Stage 2:- Buy up replacement panels (already got a new passengers side wind & drivers side door - just need a passengers side door now!) Upgrade everything as I go inc Suspension, bushes, exhaust, interior, sunroof, roof lining, stereo etc. Stage 3:- back to the bodyshop with the new panels for a full respray.... I'll pop some pictures of the carnage up when ive been up!

	I've been away on a quick 1169 mile jaunt to Dover for the weekend..... So i thought i'd catch up with the body shop. The windscreen area isn't as bad as they had expected and have cracked o with the repairs.... The rear area is another subject. Is into the boot lid hinge mounts and the roof skin too. Its going to take a bit longer before they are ready to paint etc. but they are confident they will get it sorted. But probably not by my 40th! In the mean time i have got a mint MG Montego interior, leather steering wheel, front and rear spoilers to go with the Wheels I had refurbed. Service parts are arriving daily & it will be running on VW Polo 6n coilovers and top mounts....

	Nice car, nice price. Scary rust. V6 zs and zt are unsaleable at present. An MOT fail one would be buttons. Assume you're aware that the cam belt and water pump on the V6 is a big job when "in car" and a silly amount of hours labour?

	I'll be sticking to a ZS with the 1.8 120bhp non-vvc engine - make wiring it up a lot easier & its basically 2 wires for the ecu & power feeds to fuel pump relay & starter! I've been looking at how to do it to an early K-series Metro. So should be able to replicate the mounts and get one in. Gearbox mount will remain unchanged - and swop the rear mount.... Plus I have the benefit of knowing someone who built an MG3 with a ZR 1.8 160bhp engine into it! So He might be called on to help a bit!

	The 1800 engine is readily available, used in tonnes of cars. So that'll make life easy.

	Bodyshop said the car is having its rear windows refitted this week - so fingers crossed I can get it collected on Friday!

	So - I received a text on Tuesday night to say the Montego was finished and could I organise coming to collect it as soon as possible. Telephone calls were made, lifts organised & then on Thursday night when i tried to confirm everything with the body shop - nothing! 4 calls during Thursday, no answer, sent a text "I'm coming to collect the Montego on Friday as planned - everything ok?" Still no answer! Just went with the plan - followed my dad to the garage so he could get his exhaust sorted. Just about to leave them for the body shop when my mobile rings (Body shop) - "we have had an issue with your car & would rather you didn't take it away today!" - "like what?" - "we parked the car outside on Tuesday to let the sealant around the windows cure - when we came in on Wednesday morning we started to remove all the mashing tape & we found that the passengers side 1/4 has shattered over night! We have no idea how its happened....." So after several conversations with a few guys on the owners club & someone who use to make them - it turns out the windows are meant to go back in a certain order & the window which shattered wasn't removed as it should have been! So I'm now £150 lighter for another window & I've got to wait for it to arrive & then get fitted by the body shop! Hopefully they don't break another one. But I'll be negotiating a discount off the final bill because of this.... Onwards & upwards

	So - its been a while since i've been on here! Time for an update! The Car is home and currently being driven as much as I can... But daily life has thrown up a few obsticles.... The Carb is pouring in & flooding it, especially when its cold. So New carb going on.... I had a snapped ARB drop link - these are like hens teeth in good condition. So i've been working on an alternative. Trying to get a Polo 6n2 Gti ARB, with mk2 golf drop links & Montego central mounts..... The ARB fits, but the exhaust needs to be split to allow the fitment. Should give a cheeky upgrade an easy to source replacement parts for the future! Just got a full MG interior to go in, roof lining to retrim & a nice Leather MG Steering wheel. Ive also got 3 weeks holiday booked in August, so Polo 6n coilovers, MK2 Golf top mounts, Rear upper strut brace (hopefully a Polo rear ARB kit too)....

	After its first wash - back from the body shop... The repairs been done (yes I know its been painted black, but its just to seal it until full respray next year!) A Car full of new parts.... Not convinced about the boot spoiler... Polo Gti ARB Mounted on Montego Bracket

	Good to see progress 👍 I know what you mean about the spoiler - earlier MG badged cars had more of a lip spoiler that I think looks nicer. But I guess it depends what the front spoiler looks like. Either way with your plans and dedication it will be a 'win' 😎

	Had a snapped ARB drop link - so got creative with some Mk2 Golf ones and some copper pipe! 15mm O/D copper pipe from B&Q 25mm length sections slipped over the original ARB ends MK2 Golf Drop link with 15mm Slip collar push inside it (to take up the slack) All back on and doing its job! Yes I know copper is a soft metal & will probably wear out - but very easy to change for a new piece. And someone in the OC is having reproduction genuine ones made with poly bushes - so i'mm get some of them when they come out!
