We did get a grant for 30% of the LED tubes, part of govt initiative to go 'green'.
We use daylight tubes at work so there is virtually no difference to led in terms of colour output. I have a mix of daylight and cool white at home, combined with the white walls & roof it's super bright (or it will be when I've finished it).

I have replaced our 10 flurio's with these T8 tubes from LampShop Online and they made such a difference on our quarterly bill saved about £80
I have since replaces all of house bulbs with Led packs from Screwfix and it has halved the bill for the house and garage but you have to do it all at once to see the benefit.

Todays progress, roof sheets going on and fascias now getting fitted. I think he will finish the roof woodwork by Monday night. I'm assuming he will felt the roof after that before bricking up the end gables.

Mark - I Could be barking up the wrong tree here - but I don't see any wall plate straps fitted - these are a right angle galvanised bracket that fasten the wall plate to the walls of the garage in order to prevent the roof being lifted or moved in high wind conditions - are they shown on your drawings or are they planned but not yet fitted ?

Chris, the walls have 4x2" timbers bolted and cemented to the top of them and the beams are fitted to those. As such wall plates are not required.

Well today saw the roof completed Builder said he would felt tomorrow - but he thought tomorrow was Friday, lol! So felt will get done on Monday. It's going to be hot pitch felt. Neighbour popped round and said how good it looked - far better than the shabby old one. Beginning to get a sense of size now.

That's obviously not a real cat. Needs to hand its cards in at the door. Why, it's missed its chance to leave paw prints in the wet concrete by several days Weak When we had our drive done, the cats had left pawmarks before the workmen had even finished their screed

Roof now finished and one gable blocked up. Yes seams on felt are not the prettiest, but its very watertight. I may end up getting some green felt chippings and hiding the seams at a later date though, it depends how it weathers.

Did you put a cable in before the foundation was laid or do you have the original one to work from? Garage looks great

Nice heavy duty armoured cable already laid in the original garage, something the original garage builder did right was heavy duty electrics, it was all wired in 3 phase cabling!

Just think of the delights you have to look forward to Mark - painting new block walls white - what a pain in the ar8e that is ! - I used a wide masonry roller on a pole - trick is to thin the first few coats of paint out so that it washes into the face of the block easily (but you get covered in the white paint splatter) What type of garage door are you going for and are you putting sealed units in the windows ?

Spray the entire garage with 'wet' pva then paint the walls with an underseal gun BEFORE you do the floors.
