Didn't they sell the tooling to an Indian car manufacturer and someone over here bought out all the spares a while back? May be imagining that............. ooh a unicorn........... Not at all - Rimmer Brothers at Lincoln purchased everything they could get their hands on, has they did with the Rover Group plant when that fell off the rails too

The Sparkright thingy is probably as you say a first generation '80's style alarm - they used an Infra-red arm/disarm blipper which is why the thing mounts on the windscreen. There is probably a big old school electronic module mounted somewhere for the actual guts of the alarm.
Phil.

My range rover had a very similar alarm, didn't work so I removed it, this also identified why the central locking didn't work, the switch in the drivers door had been removed and replaced with a solenoid and the alarm used for the switching, easily fixed with a £15 ebay remote set up.

Commiserations on going to dunstable
Great work with the car 😎 I guess NEC is off the cards now due to proximity? Well, I mean the original idea of driving it there?

Yes sadly on Monday I have to go to Birkenhead, then Warrington on Tuesday, so no way I’ll have time to finish it and get it mot’d. So I’ll be taking it on trailer.

What? No parking lot workshops in Birkenhead and Warrington? Do they roll them up at night during your normal hours for working on the car? Trailer won't transport the car behind you to these cities? Total admiration for what you've been doing under such "impossible" conditions... Lance

Jim - Lets just put it this way - there's certainly a lot to get through over the 3 days of the show but I'll be finding time to come and say hello

What's not to like: A: It's a SD1 B: It requires restoration C: It's rare & needs saving D: Moonstone Blue Metallic - really nice colour E: It's on your side of the country F: It's got your name all over it G: And here is the spoiler - it's on E Bay - will it go for sensible money or will it just get bid to stupid money

I would be tempted but no more space to keep it.
Got the rear section of the floor welded in. I was lucky with the weather, it did light showers and was windy but it didn’t actually curse word down.
Broke my grinder which is annoying🙁

There is probably a big old school electronic module mounted somewhere for the actual guts of the alarm. Phil. I can't find the original comment in the thread, but what the OP's say is correct. In mid 80's Sparkrite brought out two infra red remote controlled alarms, the AT100 and AT120 iirc. They had a little infra red receiver in the windscreen, a box of tricks. I seem to recall the AT100 was just an alarm and the AT120 interfaced with CDL. They were expensive compared to other alarms, but good and 'flash'. I sold loads of them, fitted one to a colleagues Golf GTi and on a Saturday and Sunday, crowds round it as we demo'd it in the car park.

Even if the spark right doesn’t work, I think I’ll keep it as I like the period modifications. Might try and track down some matching alarm stickers.
