Due to an imminent move to San Diego, my sanity reclaiming MG TF is for sale. £645 as seen on title.
It is a 2002 1.8 model, first registered in January 2003, MOT till March 30 2019. Currently sitting at 88.250 miles, of which I have done slightly more than 3k in the past year and a bit that I've owned it. Might go up a bit but only slightly since it is barely if ever used inside London and no weekend trips are planned. Full 6 speaker setup (standard in 1.8 models), electric windows, alarm, driver's airbag and bluetooth radio. No A/C, no ABS. Spare wheel and not the silly repair kit. Being a 2002 model it comes with the first generation electric wiring and alarm, and not the more problematic one that was introduced in 2003. You can tell them apart by the key fobs, of which by the way there is only one.
It is perfect mechanically, having passed its last two MOT's without a single advisory. Also has a completely waterproof roof and boot, apparently not a given in these cars. Being an MG in Red with a few years under its belt, It looks very good from a distance but up close the paint is shabby with failing clear coating in places, a few hasty surface repairs, and a couple of rust bubbles on the driver side front wing arch and around the rear vents but nothing structural. There is no service history before i got my hands on it, only thing I know is that one of the gear change cables was replaced since i was given a receipt for it.
In the past 2k miles I have:
- Done a mini service with new air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs, from an original MG service pack
- Replaced rear brake pads and lubricated pins/derusted caliper.
- Replaced one and rebuild the other clutch cylinder, plus obviously new fluid.
- Various micro jobs, like replacing broken clips in door cards, new pedal rubber, new antenna etc
Will need tyres for the next MOT and I would advice an oil change since due to some unforeseen life circumstances I never got around to it.
Priced to sell, included are:
- MG oil fliter
- Front brake pads
- Hood cleaning and conditioning kit
- Plastic window cleaning and conditioning kit
- Antifreeze and DOT 4 fluid
- Sealed first aid kit
- A few spare bulbs and fuses
If original price is covered, a black original hardtop (no interor lining) will be included, along with an MG wind deflector that i purchased but never got around to installing since one of the replaceable brackets broke during transport.
