wow, thanks guys. I like it for it's simplicity, honesty slightly quirky colour and the fact that 50 years of use has left a few marks and scars. Means I won't be afraid to use it as it's not a mega-bucks spotless resto (not that I could afford it if it was!)
I also like the fact that it's not another shiney V8 Fastback, might actually make it one of the rarer Mustangs at a show! ;-)

I agree with all the above!!
I have only one concern....is were it is parked in the photo's were it will life most of the time or do you have a secure garage. Reading about the amount of thefts as mentioned here it would scare me to leave it outside. Maybe get your pitbull sleeping in it.

I suspect this car is worthy of a write up for magazines, be it print or online. As long as you don’t expect it to be a Roush or similar, and enjoy it at a legal pace, I suspect that it’s compact dimensions will give you great pleasure out there, daily. You really do have a head turner here.

Love it, I much prefer the coupe to the fastback, brilliant colour too. I’m surprised the interior is so snug though, for what isn’t a tiny car. Good polish and wax should keep the paint as it is, and stop any further deterioration, collinite waxes are good and offer decent longevity. Search 845 insulator wax if you don’t mind giving it a wax Twice a year.

That is fantastic. Definitely needs a dirty great padlock and chain round the steering wheel and under the seat frame. Would hate to see something happen to it. Nice to see a standard car. Enjoy.

Thanks for the concerns but it was only on the drive while being cleaned. The car has ‘additional security’ (clearly I’m not going to say what on a public forum) and is garaged when not is use and away from prying eyes. I also have a big dog and a gun!

Glad to hear that. I'll have to get padlock and chain or something for whenever I get my Minor back on the road. Too many are being nicked this weather.

Awww I love your Mustang!
I entirely agree with the 'Plain Jane' being an lovely proposition on its own, not just the more aggressive variants.
For what it's worth, I quite like a burly V8 on a truck but for a nice car destined to cruise its way around an inline six is perfect!

I like that a lot! Before I got my Dodge Dart I was looking for a Mustang and also wanted a straight. Great engine and would be nice to add a turbo or supercharger, plenty of room under bonnet.

The Mustang continues to impress me - I managed to track down the last owner in California via Facebook. Last night I got an e-mail from him really surprised that the car was now in the UK. He filled in a little background info. He'd had the car for 20 years and was the third owner. He confirmed it had never been crashed and had been well looked after and that it had all new brakes this year and the engine was re-built 5000 miles ago.
All good news!

I'd missed this but now rectified. As others have said, that's a cracker and I love the interior. Nice you have a contact for a bit of history too. I also have a big dog and a gun! A winning combination in my book! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

A good result anyway.
I had a 65 289 coupe, and they are a nice cruiser.
I think I have some new still in box ball joints somewhere that I bought for mine but never fitted - yours for the postage if you want them (if v8 and i6 are the same?)
Nice car, enjoy it.

The last owner had a really unusual last name and I knew what town he lived in from the California Registration Document so he was pretty easy to find on facebook. Thanks very much for the offer of the ball joints, they could come in very handy! If you PM me details of the postage cost I'd love to have them - thank you. Paypal ok? Cheers!

A great car and it's nice to see a 6 pot Coupe ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) . I've often thought long and hard about getting a Mustang. Prior to my M3 arriving, a Mustang was on the shortlist of cars to replace it. The budget in the end and in my mind my 'sensible' shoes won. The thread for the M3 does show otherwise mind you! As said, get some Collinite on there and it should work wonders. You could try ceramic coatings but I suspect the waxes will do a better job. You've reminded me, I need to do the 2CV.

I’ve got some service parts on order and I’m waiting on HMRC / DVLA to get the Mustang registered and on the road but with any car there is always something needs doing. The air filter box was, quite frankly, minging. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/8khY6X7q/IMG-5135.jpg) Appearances suggested it may have been chrome once, a very long time ago, but unlike the rest of the car time had not been kind to it. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/JhLf0dbz/IMG-5194.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/vZfRQdxK/IMG-5195.jpg) The inside and baseplate was even worse…… ![](https://i.postimg.cc/Y92TfGDc/IMG-5192.jpg) Half an hour later having used only screwed up tinfoil and water the air filter box looks like this….. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/bNGcBnyp/IMG-5197.jpg) Not perfect, but a big improvement. The base plate needed a wire brush and some Hammerite, but I’m pleased with that too. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/WpYc88P5/IMG-5196.jpg) I had thought I’d have to buy a replacement aftermarket air filter box so that saved a few quid and more importantly kept the original parts on the car. You may have noticed the ‘Sprint 200’ sticker. A bit of internet research explained that. Apparently in 1966, they couldn’t make V8 mustangs fast enough to cope with the demand, but sales of the 6 cylinder cars was slower. To try and increase sales, Ford sold 6 cylinder cars through certain dealers with an ‘enhancement kit’ and labelled them as ‘Sprint’ models. They didn’t go any faster but had a centre console, a different body stripe and a chrome (rather than painted blue) air filter. Marketing for the 6 cylinder cars seemed to directed towards women as a Sprint poster on display in a dealership in 1966 pictured the car with a woman driver and the strap line “Six and the Single Woman”. Fortunately I’m fairly secure in my masculinity so still feel able to drive the ‘women’s version’ !! ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)
