Feel free to sing a spandau ballet song … Through the barricades ….. No Spandau Ballet here, that looks like something out of NASA's workshops. Instead, a bit of Ol' Blue Eyes- Fly me to the moon...

Got several jobs on the go ….. Let’s start off easy …. Got a new one of these ….. couple of reasons 1 - new design has locating pin part of collar - old design used existing bolt from old collar and after this hardened pin fought against the alloy during its hard and short life it opened up the hole which in turn left me with twisting movement on gear lever when in gear ! 2- the top threaded section of gear lever snapped clean off ( gear knob in hand … vicar) while at a junction Sorting out problem 2 The gear extension was the problem here …. All the pressure was on chamfered section due to threaded section on gear lever being too long for ‘box section on extension ‘ See the problem … waiting around the corner … waiting until I was at a busy junction … How it sat How I needed it to sit - mounting point spread along thickest part of shaft ( stop it!) and on threaded section Drilled through box section and washer and bolt from top ( sorry no pic… will do when in situ) Then drilled out thread of inner mounting collar ( as of course the thread was never going to be the same was it ?) then chamfered to fit profile of lever Have fitted new lever in , just waiting on some bits then will put all back together and take some pics…… Plus other jobs to follow

So all the eagle eyed watchers will have spotted it’s not the same rad ( fletcher ) I fitted . It is now a mini spares upgraded rad - you can see differences in size/ volume/ cooling efficiency. With correct mounting thread for sender ( not running adapter now - which actually backed up with silt / detritus which impeded the efficiency of temp monitor) The cowling however, was too tight now and needed …… tweaking ….. to get enough room to get bottom hose on . This is how it sat on old rad All in now , with sender kicking in fan at 88-90 and an override switch , just in case .

Ok, sorted gear lever mount ….. much tighter with no lateral movement when in gear And while it was all in bits … got sidetracked with another ‘improvement ‘ …..
