	Been busy with bits and pieces .... lots done on others cars too Timing chain done , gear change rebuild... and lots more Start with photos of these NOS Period Lucas covers never been on a car Suits the green/ yellow of lotus badge

	As mentioned , have been juggling jobs on other cars This one, new shocks all 4 corners , new bump stops and dust covers on front , new top mounts, one new drop link bar ( had to cut one off) , rear bump stops ( previous owner taken off completely) , new tyres all round , ands and down and paint of underside / suspension Have worked on suspension of other mini too ( will post pics) ... that was a super 2 weeks !

	Suspension cones Trumpets replaced with hi -lots , sorry no pic Front shocks - old ones weren’t even returning on compression. New hydrolastic bump stops on order Replaced bulbs and seals on rear lights Will run at standard height until everything settled then will lower a little A trip out in nice weather

	I have always liked longer gear change ( next to wheel , like touring car style) it’s much easier in mini .... hate reaching down. With a quickshift mechanism ( which I always fit) the shorter movement negates the extra length on gear lever. However, the chrome mini specific extension made it feel very fragile and vague .... so I adapted a generic one .... soooo much better , very precise and clunky , and I modified bottom adapter so it’s stiffer ( stop sniggering at back ) .... changing gear requires commitment and a bit of muscle , solid clunk while changing . Oh and removed passenger mat so can see green carpet better ..... Head painted brg to match theme .... will be replacing rocker cover at some point for ..... well. Something different

	The driver / co driver names were a bit of a style gamble.... But managed to get myself, wifey, all 5 kids and one grandchild onto car. I think because of colour of text and flags I it works really well ... there is definitely a mix of styles and motorsport influences on car

	Nope ..... In the middle of my yearly / monthly rebuild of split rims ... decided to swap wheels over Just shows I got the wheel choice right the first time , but also interesting to look at offset of wheels - larger 13” rims with wider 175 tyres don’t fill the arches as well as smaller wheels . Mini 40 still on Jack as calliper doesn’t clear wheel, so can’t put any weight on it - but gives a good idea of width Mini estate down on ground Enjoy the pics

	After my initial investigation It turns out the whole tyre was flat and not just the bottom ! Ah well, I lucked out there . Got local tyre fitter to break bead on both sides so I could dismantle and rebuild Tiger seal the inner joint ( sorry no pic) .. then try and get tyre back on !!!!

	Tyre back on thanks to local fitter - let’s see if this holds air , I had thought about a home tyre machine , but seeing the effort and power needed to break bead and get tyre back on with a pro machine I’m not going to bother

	Wheels were off so had my ‘winter poke around’ ....so many jokes/ thoughts! First off, front subframe needs another rub down and paint in (many) places - it is 50 years old ! Cleaned/ wiped inner arches , suspension etc... no major surprises until ... Investigated the never ending hunt of oil leaks on a mini Driveshaft oil seals ... I have bits for that as it’s been leaking for longer than I should have left them . Weeping sump plug ... have ordered a new copper seal and a dowty rubber seal washer - will decide what to refit when I drop and change oil over winter. And ..... this lovely hole was a surprise ! What looked like a bit of mastic stuck on/ in gear change housing turned out to be a 50 year old rubber seal that had decided enough was enough and just crumbled under my disapproving stare! Part ordered.

	Well the rebound buffer ( just one side as wheel was off) fitting took seconds ... in fact it took more time to find a long screwdriver than it did to fit it. The gear selector rubber was a bit more of a chew as I had to drop the selector off the box ( thought I might be able to push it through from outside) .... then could I realign the bolts!!?!! Anyhoo ... all done Other side rebound to do then , the other ‘special’ bits

	I normally put winter wheels and tyres on my ‘daily’ mini but have sold it on and my 2 remaining minis are too nice to be pressed into service over winter ... Tig youre it ..... Fiat panda 100hp with steelies and winter tyres on .... bring on the snow

	Other side not as bad, but worth a swap Slight split in boot .... will keep an eye on it... will replace on next next shopping spree While under cars .... rubber bung on backplate missing ( mini 40) ... reinstated ... with finesse Taking bits off for next job

	Am changing style a little .... First up Steering wheel change ... 14” nos from eBay - the 13 “ I had was too small and didn’t like chrome . Original wheel was 15”, so this sits nicely in between - plus it gives me a little more room to squeeze in
