Hednesford is a great track for spectating, wasn't it an old reservoir? Funny place to get to up the top of a hill.

Yeah, it used to be an old reservoir years ago. Its got alot of history to it and has been going 30 odd years IIRC. If you head towards Hednsford youll see Hednesford hills Raceway signposted. Its on Reservoir Rd off Littleworth Rd. Cant find a postcode though!
The Pre68 first came about around 15 years ago as banger drivers who had old cars in stock like Cambridges and Minxes found them far too slow for the more common modern cars like Granadas e.t.c The Pre 68 was designed to allow these slow old cars to race on a level playing field against other slow old rotten cars. The competing cars are split into under 1750cc and over 1750cc categories to make things as fair as possible. An A40 doesnt stand much of a chance against a MK2 Jag!
Of course the main rule for the pre68 is the cars need to be types that were in production before 1968. The Daimler DS420 limo was built up until 1986(ish) but because production began before '68 examples that were built in the 1980s are allowed to race. Make sense??
Wrap up warm and bring an unbrella just in case as it often rains for pre 68 but fingers crossed it will be good weather this time.
If you arrive in a tax exempt motor the driver gets in for free and you get to park trackside with other classics. You should get in free of charge with your hunter. If I see you ill say hi!
I cant wait, its a great meeting!

Been to Hednesford with the Rods many times, never been to a big banger meet though.
Good venue for a big race.

Other tracks that run pre '68 meetings have actually banned the use of DS420's as you cant put a definate date on them, so some drivers were going out in newer/fresh solid on. Believe some of the other jags are banned too!

Camera packed up so didnt get any pics. No cars of any note apart from a moskvich and a pug estate thing that looked like a cambridge (designed by pininfarina I think) Meeting was pretty tame too! Still love it though. Some of the cars were EXTREMELY rotten, much more rusty than anything id race!
