I've owned a couple of 2002's (a'73 & '74) many, many moons ago and would still love to have one now. But that particular car I personally wouldn't touch unless it's sub 500 quid and I'd still only use it for parts.
A worthwhile project '02 start at three grand from what I've seen.
Then again it's always nice to save an old motor....

£2K would be a fair price to offer but expect to spend at least £12K more to get it 100% unless you intend to do the body work (welding/prep) yourself but done right you could have a £20K car at the end as they are going up in value all the time, don't forget with a car like that Standard + Better value at the end regard less of weather you are doing it for profit or to keep.
Three years project time period if your lucky. I agree with 100%, except for the £2k.

If you are happy to spend a LOT of time and money, even to keep it patinated but roadworthy, go ahead otherwise as others say £500.
Also as a 1602 its rare, but not at the top of values even in good order when compared to 2002 versions.

ok so he text me back saying £600 and i can have it including a load of spare parts. i think me and a mate are gonna go and have a proper look at it, inside and out, and see what it's really like, i mean it won't hurt to have a good look I'm not obligated to buy it. i will keep all of your advice in mind though and if it is just a basket case i will leave it... id say £600 is a steel for one of them ive been looking for one in my price range for awhile now i bet if you washed it and pumped the tyres up and stuck it on ebay as a project for £1200 it wouldn't stay around long

How would you transport it?

I think you could maybe get it running and driving and sort out the localised paint and rust and just use it as it is without spending a fortune . More in a ' survivor' state than restored .
That would be my plan anyway .
Nice to see you have got a a good deal and bringing it back from the scrapheap , heaven knows how long it might have stayed there .
