Got a big pile of bits home. Old pieces set aside. New pieces inspected and adjusted to length. This is surprisingly good tube. Tube plus bending and 3 clamps with tax came to $55. All fitted up underneath. Neat and tidy. Going to finish it off with a chrome turn-down tip. Phil

Looks like it fitted up easily?
Sounds very, very nice.

If it doesn't rain today I'll bring it up to temperature and get a bit of film of it outside. Sounds better not cooped up inside, as is the case a lot of the time.

Clamp to suspend it correctly and a nice chrome shiny for the end. Went for a quick drive around the neighborhood, just me in the car I know I can just get over the speed humps on the next street so that's good. Drives okay despite the brakes being a little sub-par. Phil

Sounds great, although it sounded like you were already halfway down the street by the time you'd rolled off the drive.

Hi!
Sounds perfect....and that only with one glaspack...
Sidevalve engines need not much to sound good...

I may change the muffler in time; I haven't decided yet. We'll see. For now, general driving inside the car it is fine.
I'll have to give it a test in the road tunnel in town. That's a fairly good experimental location.

Remember the back door with the spectacularly cracked glass? Yeah, I didn't want to wait to find out why any longer, either. Well, that's why. The top of the mechanism is missing. That little roller (and the other one almost out of shot to the right) should be in a channel, which the sash attaches to that the glass sits in. So, unless it's in the bottom of the door, I need to find those parts. Silver lining, I got the door lock operational

Hot tonight, decided to have a go at the roof again. Bit better. Hard, hot work but it is beginning to look a bit more presentable. Phil

Fitted some nice stainless acorn nuts to hold the license plate on with. Buffed the back end up until being outside in the heat got tiresome. It cooled off a little so I took the car outside and set the headlight aim. I am thoroughly okay sitting there, looking out of that window. Phil

The little touches that take it from being an old car to a cared for car don’t always pop out at you but cumulatively add up. Appreciate this far more than just a $$$ parts build. Keep chipping away. James

Nice picture. I really like that dashboard with its jukebox feeling. Keep up the good work, you have an interresting thread.

This car and all you present to us always makes me smile.
I certainly love the cars from this era, all eras have beauties, but these are nice as they capture a bit from the past while pointing at the future we got from the automotive game.

I could sit happily looking at the view from there too. Like Darren says, the details are what makes this car stand out, and your focus on getting all the little niggles ironed out properly is commendable. It’s also a good example of just how much work goes into stuff that most people never notice.
