meatballturbo's thread with one of my old cars in it got me thinking about the price of the ones which got away.. my 350 Chevy powered Victor now DVLA says The vehicle details for VCH 209G are: Date of Liability 01 05 2008 Date of First Registration 12 11 1968 Year of Manufacture 1968 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 5731CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour WHITE so she's still out and about there. Anyone got any thoughts as to how I might start tracking the old beasty down with a view to asking the current owner what he values the car at etc.... I understand it doesn't look quite the same now (has wide wheels, VX 4/90 trim etc ) Your thoughts? Or should one never go back? Should I track down a cheap stocker and start all over again (although thats what I was doing with the Ventora when I gave up on that...) anyway, anyone ever done this? Anyone know the current owner? it went down south when I sold it and I've never seen it since. Hmmmm.....

A letter to the owners club mag?
What about trying the hot rodding grapevine starting on the NSRA board?

Something is nagging me about this car.
I'm sure I have seen it, or at least something very similar (large, vauxhall, white, V8'd) at local shows.
What say you Sethke? Or am I thinking of something completely different?

the guy I sold it to was not a club member nor was he a hot rodder. He had a moddified Vectra V6 estate... But he was never on Migweb or such either.

This wasn't at a Rod or modified show, I think the greenwood/carole nash jobbie, either at shutts or knebworth. Certainly not this year, and maybe not last either....

I wouldn't go back. If you sold it in the first place it can't have been all you wanted from a car ...unless of course you were super skint and needed cash urgently. If the latter is the case then things are different and a buy back would no doubt be most desirable.

I owed a mate £1500 and rather than string him along I sold the only thing I had which was worth any actual money. It had some overheating issues and I really couldn't afford a new / larger rad or to investigate if it was silting up or something. 'bout it really. And I heard it has a new cooling system anyway.

Apply to the DVLA for the details of the current owner? data protection act says no. Unless you have a valid reason for wanting the information You may remember the thread I made a while back about rescueing a Mini, it just needs the right form filling in with a decent excuse and they will release it.

first link is a 404 error and the form in the second link is all about tracing vehicles in accidents. You sure this works for a general enquiry like mine?

Can't link to it but it is in the document library. Really only relevant to abandoned vehicles though.
