Next was to get the car MOT'ed Took the car to a great little place down the road in Bookham. The tester commented on how clean the car was underneath which pleased me! anyway went through with flying colours - no advisories!! Not bad for a car that's been in a garage for 7 years!!

Much better fit! nice tight panel gaps. I also cleaned off all the dried mud and dust behind the bumpers and wheel arch liners.

I picked the car up in the rain... The work carried out by Lee at the bodyshop was top notch!! I was very happy!!! From this to this;

My next job was to sort the "boat like" handling and ride height. There is very little in the way of suspension upgrades for rover 800's but I found these Moto Build custom springs which looked ok. They are slightly stiffer and drop the front more than the rear which will sort out the "nose up" stance which Rover 800's had from new.... Much better!! old springs to the dump.

The hunt for wheels was on! I wanted 1990's period 18" wheels. The Vitesse Sport had nice 17's as standard and i kind of wanted to find a 6 spoke design that would resemble this wheel but an inch bigger to fill the arches and make the car look more aggressive. I always liked OZ Saturn's which were fitted to Lotus Esprit V8's and some Aston Martins so I decided i would find a set of these... A few months later I found a set and snapped them up. - I had them refurbished too.

I took the old girl to a breakfast meet at Brooklands in Surrey - I was surprised at how much interest it got!! And my daughters had a great day too!

Very nice, I'm nostalgic about Rover's of this period. Good see this one given some desreved attention. The first car I bought was an L plate 220 GSI 16v, loved it.
