I'm in I have always liked that style of Mercedes and still do. From memory I think I have only owned two W123's and always said I'd have another but that is looking less likely these days. looking forward to more pics

(Mods: if this is pushing the boundaries of taste, go ahead and delete. Won’t hurt my feelings.) We were driving through town a while back and I could see this little red car zipping in and out of traffic behind me. As it got closer, I could here the tell-tale sounds of a tuned turbo motor… Brraaappp…pssshhhhh…pop…pop… When it got close enough, could see it was a Fiesta ST with all the right mods, lowered, fat tires, dark windows, looked like someone plucked it off the Southend sea front and dropped it into the middle of Kansas. Nice. When the driver pulled in front of me at the next light, I mentioned to my wife “that guys probably British.” She asked how I figured that… the license plate… I guess the arbiters of taste at the Kansas DMV aren’t well versed on British slang. But then I had to have a long conversation with my Kansas born and bred wife about male canine reproductive organs and now they are used as a signal something is good or bad. Fun times.

That era of Merc always puts me in mind of my dad’s brothers, Alf and Don, who had a succession of them when I was a kid. Don was still driving a W123 up until the early 2000s.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

Interesting My dad was one of 10 kids, 5 boys, 5 girls. Mum was one of 6 one boy and 5 girls. Born in 1935/38 respectively. Two of dads brothers, drive them, one being a farmer who did over 600k miles in his diesel. One or two of mums sisters and her brother as well. Perception and reality of use in Africa I guess. Today those to me are just very basic with and expectation of reliability. And a certain emotional pull.
