Slow weekend this time around - weather dreadful and generally feeling a bit off colour. Spent a bit of time looking out more parts and items that I am not going to be using on the project builds and getting them ready to put on eBay. The current lists of old Gemini cast off parts is doing quite well and coupled with the other recent Gemini sell offs have netted a half decent sum to the cause and made some room into the bargain. I just have to keep myself from buying anything else whilst continuing to clear out the sheds.
Need to get rid of some bigger items next as I have numerous wheels and tyres that are surplus to requirements and need to be shifted. If they fetch a few pounds I may treat the Gem to a bias pedal set up which would allow for the 40's to be fitted.

Is it worth starting I for sale thread DS? Dan I actually find eBay a lot less hassle and more fun to watch - I tend to sell things too cheap otherwise as forums sometimes have a kind of mates vibe - I have put things for sale on here before and its generally zero interest or PM's 18 months later.

All the Escrot stuff has already been listed and gone - apart from a Hazard light switch and a set of wheels from a 1600 Ghia - The black painted steels, caps, and vanity rings. I have worked through most of the Ford odds and ends now - I think all that there is left that will be stripped out is a pedal box assembly at some stage and possibly a handbrake. The rings and connectors arrived for the dash so if I get my into gear I can really get on with the wiring when I have done the list of work in the G15 thread.

Bomber was collected today and is probably at this very moment in its nice dry storage shed in Suffolk. No idea if I will hear or see anything of it again but I hope the new owner keeps in touch. It started easily this morning much to the surprise of the transport driver who was expecting a push and shunt collection of a non runner, and he was most pleased when I drove it off the drive straight up the ramps onto the flat bed with ease - Handbrake on and battery disconnected for the journey - ramps packed car strapped down he was off with a cheery wave.
More space available - which was useful as the L200 failed its MOT at the weekend - and the cash was also handy as I had to raid the piggy bank to get the wife a new daily. Now to fit a tow bar to it. question on the L200 is to weld or not to weld. I really do not need a project as big as one of those things but its still a decent enough old barge to have as a fallback.
Better get on with Gem2

- Cinders - I knew I had a name sorted for Gem-2 could not remember it the other evening when met up with the G15 crew. Is that because you expect it to ignite, or because it will be up on blocks with no wheels? Or I guess a slow burn build..

Or I guess a slow burn build.. curse word name that came about due to having the Libre wheels for many years waiting for the right car to fit them to. I don't like it and it's not particularly memorable which is why it was easily forgotten. This car will just be called the Gem' as it's the only one I have now so no need to make any distinctions.

The other left field tenuously linked name would have been Delilah.... I bought the Gemini off a guy in Wales called Tommy Jones ! Gem it is then..... Bought a book on ELVA to have something to work through whilst we are in Lockdown 2.0 not going anywhere or doing much to try and limit the destructive path of this virus pandemic. £40 seemed a bit of a price but when it arrived at 2" thick and weighing 3kg I deemed it a fair price just for the mass alone. Interesting story - the MK1(b) does not feature for very long in the story but its interesting enough if not as technical as I would have liked. Certainly beats watching epoxy mastic dry.

Started wiring the dash and making lists for what I will need to order wire wise for the engine loom. The gauges are all wired as is the indicator switch so the next stage will be the switches followed by the fuse boxes and the relays. As this is as basic as it gets there are only a few switches to sort out.
Better get a move on really as April will be here in no time at all and I want to get out driving as soon as the salt have been washed off.

Dash wiring is on going - need to order some more cable in specific colours particularly for the wipers and the electronic speed sensor. Carried out a bit of testing with a power supply and the illuminated indicator switch works as do the instrument illumination lights - I may look at swapping them out for some colour LED types as the current plain white is a bit harsh. May also need to rig up a dimmer for them as there are far more gauges than previous and it may be a little too bright - even though driving the car as night will be a limited occurrence.

Nice work, looks tidy. What gauges are you using? Cheers, gauges are VDO - detailed on previous page. Wiring will be a lot tidier when clipped tied bound wrapped or whatever method I decide

Yep I do still have a Gemini under the cover. Time to get stuck into this as I want something to use as soon as the current restrictions are lifted. Job for this week is to get on line and order up some more wiring parts.

The Gemini had been moved off the trailer so that G21 could be collected so no sooner had the G15 been turned into a rolling chassis there was a swap of positions - G15 to the front garden and Gemini to the drive. Shortly afterwards the Gem' was inside so that the wiring work could be started again. Better try and find where I managed to get up to on that to-do list.

Sorting out that unsightly chassis corrosion due to diabolically poor powder coating Lots and lots of flap wheeling, clean and strip disc work and plain old hand sanding back with course paper - 4.5 grinder - 3 " angle air grinder etc. Made loads of mess but it also looks much better. I will try some of the much heralded Hydrate 80 as well as covering that in Epoxy Mastic and depending on the colour - Carbon Grey - and how dark it is it may even get a further coat of paint. All of the suspension will also get a makeover in Black. The Galv chassis in 'Bomber' - good choice. - Removable front section as Gem 3 - good choice - Powder coated and a fixed body - FFS what a PITA when the chassis is not looked after.

I’m not a fan of powder coating on chassis, or anything external. It doesn’t offer much protection, it hides corrosion and it is difficult to patch up. You’re well rid of it me ole Darkness.
