I would've thought THIS is Retro...... MUCH rarer than the ubiquitous Corsa, but I can't even find a willing buyer at £200! It's a MkI and when was the last time you saw one? A couple of years ago, I scratched the 9-3 convertible itch, with a 99 (cheaper tax) Vector Aero (205 bhp) for a grand. A year later, having spent another couple of hundred quid keeping it going and only done about 500 miles, I let it go for £700! I was well gutted, it's not often I LOSE money on a car! Steve

It’s subjective and anyone can have a difference of opinion. I don’t see the Corsa B pictured as retro in the slightest, but an early Corsa B GSi or even very very basic poverty spec early Corsa B I think is retro. I suspect you are right, I didn’t buy the corsa thinking that’s retro. I did like it because it’s quite old, and I think if anything the corsa is ‘interesting’ because it is still tidy (it also trades off of the earlier models to an extent, so is associated with 1993 even though it’s 1999) But as you say if it was a GSi it probably would be.... A mate was buying a mk1 escort a year or two back and had all sort of stress over the provenance of then and were they genuine or a normal model with the vin of a rotten Mexico etc So that maybe implies that Retro will go the same way as Classic? Very subjective! I have no regard for Opel/Vauxhall cars despite my Vectra Estate being the best tow car I've ever owned. So I look at a corsa b and see a donor steering system. But I'm saving a ratty old 96 escort cos I was given it free and I like fords. Probably be better to get a neat corsa but.... I work the gate of our Vintage Club Show annually and I wont let anything i see in Tesco's carpark etc in. Agree about the sporty models though. They almost always go retro.

If it’s old an it annoys your neighbours That’s fine for me regardless of what it is Nuff said as young people say.... I’ve 17 cars, he’s got forty tractors and deaf as a post! Fairly hard to annoy the old lad. Great that there’s fifty years between us and something in common, diesel!
