Dropped the engine in That's more like it Had forgotten how much of a PITA the mounting method is for the Imp manifolds. The big bore manifold also now fits with a decent amount of clearance. Took a break from welding and lugging the engine/box assembly around and started cutting some stainless.

Cleaned up and started the welding on the other rear wishbone - will get steel reinforcing sections cut out for both wishbones and the rest of the welding done during the week. Getting these done and painted will get them out of the way making room for Stratos parts.

Been spending a few evenings making progress on the G15/21 door hinges, especially as rain has been stopping play on the Stratos. Plan is to get these done and dusted before the weekend. Photo's using an old Sony Experia phone as I dropped the Cyber-Shot

Tested the Cobalt drills on the 3mm thick 304 Stainless 120 - 3mm holes 100 - 6.5 holes 20 - 8mm holes 10 - 11.5mm holes 10 - 12.5mm holes No re-sharpening required on any of the bits - the 3mm was not as sharp as new but it was still making easy progress through on the last hole - same with the 6.5 - as expected the larger were near as good as new. Not at all disappointed in the purchase. Lots of degreasing required now prior to assembly and welding

So far we are six holes in and the hole saw is showing no signs of any issues. Slow speed and plenty of cutting fluid seems to be the way, and making sure that the temperatures are kept low, no smoke being a really good thing. Not much else done as I was getting some sun and exercise walking the hill at Loton Park. No pictures from today even with 3 Ginetta's being in attendance.

Nice to see batch production! If setting up to make three sets of something may as well throw another couple in if you know there is a need/market for them. But that's it for hinges not making any more. The only thing that I may look into doing in the future is window frames for the doors. If I can find a local company to cut and fold the channel I will make a batch of those as I need two sets. There are only 3 things that are difficult to get hold of for a G15 - Chassis - Window frames - Door Hinges.

Folding the channels in stainless if that's what you are going to use is not a problem if you have access to a good folder but how do you put the shape into the channel to match the roof profile? When Mark made a batch, I think he might have done it using some special tooling on an Ekhold. I'm interested because I shall be faced with the same problem with the frames for my car.

As the originals did not follow the roof line not sure I have much to worry about - Yes, getting the stainless to take that top curve will be an issue to overcome.
