Taking those “no suspension lows” photos is what got me into hydraulics on my Acty. There was no going back when that picture was in my head!! It looks SOOOOOOOOOOOO good too so i completely get where you are coming from, i don't think i can budget for it currently though

After the help of a friend and some washers i managed to get the front coilovers fitted up. Car sits nicely tucked now but could always go lower. She has enough adjustment left to put the engine cradle on the floor the rear i have had to do a chopped spring job, i still need to do the one side but it will have to do until i can spec up/or make/modify some coilovers to suit. Getting there slowly.

Adey Do you think you will finish this one? ha, maybe. though finished is a bit of a funny thing when it comes to modifying cars, are they ever truely finished? My aim is to have a car ready to drive to the gathering

I saw a guy on wheeler dealers making hub caps for a bubble car and they were well priced. I wonder if he could make you a set? ( I don't know who he is though you'd have to watch a rerun)

Shame about the wheels. Are they off a Renault 18 or something?

they came off a spanish r8, quite a rare one to get so I'm told as they are 14s rather than 15s? but they adjusted the offset outwards so they were the same as the r8 gordini, that has pushed them too far for me. I wonder if the non gordini r8 wheels would fit under the arches instead...... Fancy them for the van?

I'm sure you'd get your money back for this wheels though.

BANDED STEELS! GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT. I always use Steve at Usher Engineering, superb job, cut then run on the lathe before sections are banded in. £50 a wheel and £15 for sand blasting if you want that. I've had 3 sets done by him and send using TNT. Here’s recommendation for where to get them banded ... Yep, as before I would recommend.

the car has a funny shape, so even when quite low the pointy front end makes her look a little high. What i did to try and change that a little was to lower the bumper about an inch amd a half (the ph1 has a lower bumper anyway) and then attach the number plate below that. Looks a little lower and less pointy now

I think it looks cool with the bumper high or low.
I just looked back through the thread at the photos of the R12's and I have concluded that if it were mine and banded steels weren't an option, I'd love it with the R5 Gordini wheels like the white one.

A long time ago, my friends and I were known for 'slamming' weird cars - we did a 12 back then - in those days nothing that could be picked up cheaply in The Loot and had coil springs was safe from our grinders! :-)
Great to see the silliness is still alive and well!
