I know it's not really a Retro Rides kinda car, but I am seriously thinking of getting one, after seeing a sweet little numba with a stupid ammount of history come up for sale by someone i know, for not-a-lot at all. Anyone have any experiences of them? What is part availability like, what they like to drive, are they a daily possibility? Plus are there any modded ones about (just cos it'd feel naughty and not the done thing). It'd be a S2 of 85 vintage, 16v. General brain farts welcome. Mmmmmmm Can only wish it was an S4 for the money:

The 928 is a Fantastic car if you can afford to own one (that doesnt mean buy one that means own one!)
usually when the words porsche 928 are mentioned also the words money and pit are usually added to the same sentence!
I ay go for it and enjoy itbut be prepared to throw it away when it goes wrong (or re-mortgage!!!)

My dad had a Tobaco Brown one when i was very young, but i can remember going out in the back of it. For that reason i love them, but can also see them as being a bit of a money pit!

The thing you have to remember is these, whilst relatively cheap - they are supercars and as such, incur supercar running costs. Not just the fuel and tyres but relatively 'simple' items such as pads and discs, trim and electronics can be ferociously expensive. So yea, either find a good one or be prepared to dump a fair bit of wedge on it, in the worst instance Great cars though and I could see why you'd want one, I know I would! If I see any guides or anything, I'll shout!

This one has bills totalling up to £28,000 and has just had major stuff like cambelt, tensioners and other odds and sods done.
Ho hum, you only live once.

I love the chequered black and white interior of the early models. Apart from that, do not buy one. If you want to go fast in a Porsche the 928 is not the one. If you want to cruise quickly then find something more reliable to do it in.
The 928 will suck your cash from your bank account.

I would be scared senseless to get one, but then, I am the original cautious Charlie.
If you can and want to afford it, do it.

I really cannot stretch to a GTS. This one is kinda cheap enough (compared to other porsche's) to be able to leave/sell at a loss if something goes wrong.
Now who wants a solid P5....
Anyway anyone got some cool 928 pics stashed away somewhere?

massively expensive on engine stuff I believe.......pray it never goes wrong!! What he said... There's one in a garage in Doncaster just sat in the yard as the guy can't afford the bits to fix it... IIRC there's tons of unique parts meaning they command a premium.
