With the Goodwood weekend coming up I figured I would try and sort a couple of GoPro cameras in an effort to get some decent footage whilst out on track. As an elderly member of RR, I figured it might be an idea to get some advice on where best to mount the cameras and what I can do to get some decent sound quality?
I have 2 cameras I can use. Actually I also have a 3rd but it's a bullet camera, quite old and I'm not sure of the picture quality, so I thought I might use this as a foot or steering cam? The other 2 are a GoPro Hero 4 and a GoPro session.
As the GP Session doesn't have an external mic input, I was thinking of reverse mounting above the rear screen. I figured it would show faster cars catching and then passing. The Hero 4 will be fitted with an external mic but I'm unsure whether to place the mic near the air intake or the exhaust tail pipe for maximum noise / best quality? Either way, I am guessing I will need to do something to counteract wind noise?
Now assuming I actually manage to get some decent video, what would be the best free editing software?
Any tips and advice would be much appreciated. Please remember I come from a time when we only had black and white TV's and FaceTime was something we saw on Star Trek. We did have video cameras but they were massively expensive and you needed a wheel barrow to transport them! Please be gentle with me.
