Do I need to remove anything else in these photo or just utilise a bit of mallet time? And it was held on by a 21mm nut and looks like the above, do I want some kind of Mazda adapter or something Ford? And are the cheap ebay ones any good? Apologies for my lack of knowledge, I've always gone OEM with steering wheel swaps before and I'm hyper aware that anything I break will be very difficult to replace! DO NOT HIT IT WITH A MALLET The steering column likely includes a pre-weakened shear-point.... Mazda had a habit of using nylon pegs holding together two separate tubes in the column. They are designed to break in a crash and thus collapse the column rather than impale you like a hunting trophy. If you take a mallet to the steering wheel you're likely to knacker them so your column will telescope in when you want it to the least! Leave the nut on a few turns so when the wheel pops off it doesn't rearrange your good looks... hold the wheel at a quarter-to-three position and sort of "walk" the rim in a circular motion forward and backwards with your hands while pulling towards yourself (easier to do than it is to describe ). It'll come off without the need for mad violence Thanks for the info, i'm still waiting on my boss to arrive so it has been saved any "heavy persuasion"! On another note, I';m thinking I'll get the roof/A-pillars wrapped in a gloss black. Not sure whether to attempt it myself or get a pro job done though. And then possibly going either a grey or black on the lower body panels for a two-tone look, but that'll most likely be paint.

I'm on my second 2nd Gen Probe, and love how they are under-rated. Love these First Gen ones. Rare as hen's chollers and cool as. Awesome colour scheme. I also have a T12 Datsun Stanza, and a similarly serious red interior was available on those too. Bookmarked.

That black one looks great! I'm definitely a bit of a fan of the 2nd gen Probe too! New shoes, need a little love and I'm contemplating gold or bronze centres.

The budget horn button was a mistake, but it's a big upgrade in fell otherwise. No mallets involved!

So I got a genuine Momo horn button which is a big improvement and I custom modified a cheap chinese cupholder from eBay to give me somewhere to stick the coffees. Unfortunately the alternator belt snapped on me, I've managed to source a replacement from ECP and will attempt to fit it tomorrow, it looks very tight in there!

New wheels and tyres fitted with some spacers at the back to sort out that stance a bot, still needs a brush with the lowering stick though. having some running issues, occasionally cutting out on sharp corners, thought it was a badly secured battery, but it doesn't seem to be. Will have to do some more investigating and I need to get the fan running as it doesn't seem to, perhaps because the temp gauge mostly sits fairly low (although it only has numbers at the top and bottom so no idea if it's linear or not)

Is there much petrol in the tank? I only ask as I have this issue in my Astra, and it's something to do with the swirl pot in the fuel tank, if it's low the fuel pump can't get fuel and momentarily cuts out until I straighten up again.

I've not seen one of these for years. As a kid in mid 90's US. I was mystified by these (there was a guy with one, he also had a Merkur XR4Ti)
Its so cool you have one over here.

Yeh, I'm thinking fuel now, good idea, but the tank has been both full and almost empty with the same issues. Will chuck a new filter on and perhaps clean the injectors, probably a result of it sitting for 20 years! I've not seen one of these for years. As a kid in mid 90's US. I remember a trip to the US as a kid where the cars all seemed so cool. this came up and I fancied something different. Not sure how many are in the UK, but it's a very small number.

Ah I love this! Painfully 90's, red interior, odd and turbo'd. It's like the quad-quirk factor!

I know of at least six, your is one of two on the road. That's a small number in my book! Only 2 on the road? Mines not even registered as a Probe (just a Ford of unknown model) so it's difficult to judge and of course it came out of a 20 year hibernation so there may be more tucked away. Ah I love this! Painfully 90's, red interior, odd and turbo'd. It's like the quad-quirk factor! Yeh, I wanted something different and a bit of fun and it certainly fits the bill! I love a bright interior, I had a Monza with green everywhere and a CX which was very blue inside.

Lovely looking car, pop up lights are always a win, and I strangely love cars with the light up side markers.

w00dy What a fantastic motor! Styling wise it is certainly more dary and, dare I say, better looking than the MK2 Probes. And that red interior is just awesome. Re. Wheels I have a set of Mustang wheels for sale, in gold with a larger offset than the BBS, so probably no need for spacers on the rear. They would look similar to the RX7 wheels on that white modded or you posted. And being Ford they would be suited to your car. In other words, Link

Chers. Great looking wheels, but I think the BBS suit the squarer 80'sness of the Probe and the spacers are yet to kill me.
Think I'm going to get the roof/A-pillars wrapped gloss black. I'd do it myself, but I have a serious lack of patience for that kind of thing.

Gave the Probe a bit of a clean and took it to the Haynes Breakfast meet. I decided the turbo mouldings needed a touch of red so that everyone knows I've got boost. Awesome car dude! I have a 89 probe too. it’s in rough condition tho. Love the wing on the rear window. Where did you get it?
