Found an unusual Gasser style car or high riding street freak? If it's American, it's probably not unlikely. If it's a Pop/Thames, Devon or Minor, it's not unlikely either. But post as many pics of Hemi Healey as you like.

Love it! Not a gasser as such but years ago when my zephyr was getting some work done she looked like this and always thought she would make a nice gasser

Well, Kron don't take this as gospel, but to my way of thinking, and what I have always beleived is that a gasser is a car usually from the forties or fifties which has been stripped of surplus weight and jacked up in the front using a beam axle or tubular axle. The idea of this is to provide better weight transfer on acceleration which will hopefully help the rear tyres gain more traction in order to accelerate away from the line faster. Here's one I saw at the weekend. I've always kinda liked them, although I'll bet the handlings a little woolly on the street!

Ok ok, I like am. But can someone explain to.me what a Gasser is and how they came about etc? They were built for drag racing (I think in the 60s) so we’re older cars with big engines, the front was raised for better weight transfer and they were stripped to make them lighter. With plexiglass replacing the windows (and often coloured plexiglass like in some of the photos above) The image that springs to mind most readily for me is a 40s Willy’s coupe
