So here with have my beastie little mazda I got because running my discovery cost far too much, and I missed having a small car.
It's surprisingly good condition apart from a bit of surface rust in places. It's only done 86k, 56k were done in its first 2 years as a driving school car! It's not something you see very often so it will be fun to play with and make it my own.
Here's what it looked like when I first bought it a month ago
unfortunately the back box decided to fall off, so i made something up with scrap exhaust laying around
of course i thought it then needed a tidy up as it was looking a bit sorry for itself, so i got some trusty halfords bumper paint which i think transformed the car.
the next logical step was to get some wheels, which was fun as they're 4x114.3 fitment and originally 12"! luckily i managed to find some lotus eclat wheels at a reasonable price, so on they went along with a set of wind deflectors for a kia pride
unfortunately they did rub so i got a cheap arch roller and had a go, unfortunately they aren't perfect but hey they were a bit rusty so need tidying anyway, but at least they don't rub now front before: and after: rear before: and after:
i will be definitely continue tinkering and changing bit on this fun little car, and i can lower it a bit now. i hope you enjoy, i will try and keep updated.

I hired one of those for a week in 1991. It went amazingly hard for what it was. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Also sold in some markets, including here in New Zealand, as Ford Festiva.

I know the in America they have loads of readily available parts to swap for the festiva, such as brake swaps from a different car. Unfortunately we don't have that option over here as far as I'm aware

The bumper paint is actually pretty good, no fade at all on my polo after 18 months and you can't go wrong with it, it even started raining as i was painting and it still turned out alright! I love that 626 you've got, how would you rate the wing mounted mirrors? I've been thinking about putting some on

Did you just use the black paint or both? Once you get used to the mirrors there easy, I think so anyway. Just don't mount them wonky!

I just used the prep wipes, make sure they're clean and give them a good going over with the wipes and away you go

My first wife's dad bought two brand new Kia Pride's in a row back in the early to mid-nineties. Good little cars actually.

I think so, this one was looking really sad for itself and was sat around at work, I felt sorry for it and knew I had to have it, definitely the right choice. It's nippy for a 1.1 but wish it had a bigger engine, would be so much fun

Unfortunately not a lot of progress and no pics at the moment as I need to find my laptop to post any 🙈 I've finally got round to fitting my stereo, using a full vibe blackair setup with a 4 channel amp and a big tasty sub, was bouncing things off the roof the other day 😂 Also got hold of a set of unused polo coilovers which I'll make fit for the princely sum of £80!!! Anyone have any suggestions for finding or making a ducktail spoiler? As I really want one but can't find anything anywhere near right, I know I'll have to modify whatever I find though. Once I've found me laptop I'll post a couple more pics

Excellent stuff. My kind of shonk. There's a bigger following for these in Australia than there is here, there's a few FB groups I found when I had my Demio - which is genetically very similar. I used Golf coilovers on the front of that.

Are those huge speaker pods on the doors legal? I'd be surprised if they would be here.
