Yeah I'd agree, if you're lucky there may be a builders plate on one of the cabinets or doorshuts, if it's still there it'll give you some more info.
History may be available from gaydon motor museum, depending on whether it's one of those that got lost in a fire (I think) a few years ago

Thanks very much next time I am onsite will have a hunt for a build plate. It has definately been in a fire as the windscreen and battery have melted. |

Appears to be in surprisingly sound, rust-free condition, apparently last used in 1991, according to the DVLA!  |

Yeah, it's pretty good Waxoyling Lyrical, but I'll bet underneath is a little crispy. Probably should've kept it under cover. 1991... Seems like such a long time ago now. |

The white 1985 Mk3 Escort, C246 MJB, was last MOT'd in 2015, so it did quite well to last 30 years on the road, and apparently has done under 30,000 miles, although the MOT history shows this to oddly go up and down, to remain around the same over an 8 year period!  It looks pretty sound, on the face of it... |

Agreed, it didn't look as bad as some cars i've seen in driveways!
