Remember Lewis' old Dolly? Well its been well picked over! Looks like its giving the gift of life to atleast one other dolly! From the same breakers in Stoke, OMFG its XbolloX's old Audi 200!!! Actually, its not, its "just" a 100. Bloody mint though, the paintwork is spotless and even under the arches shine. The underbonnet area has seen much "detailing" and its obviously been loved in its time. Tax disc shows 11/08. Such a pity to see it scrapped. Its a 5 cylinder manual jobbie with 202k on the clock. Looks like its done half that. Squished Zephyr? Stolen from the Cambridge/Oxford forum, forgotten but not gone....

OK my first post on Retro Rides, but hopefully not my last. I have a habit of wandering about on my lunch breaks around Leigh on Sea, here's some of what I've found, plus a few scrap yard pics too (sorry mostly camera pics). The sliding door looks in far better condition than the one on my van! Shame they are so far away

Beware of anything painted in that shade of green. All the rage in the 90s, it usually means the van is mostly filler and newspaper. I've looked over three beetles and a Type 3 all in that shade, all hastily 'restored' for 90s VW shows, and they were all deathtraps.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

There'stoo much money in Norway ;D,the Mustang (albeit hiding some rust) and the finny should be at least under cover away from the snow etc. The Dodge/Fargo pickup won't last long under a pinetree either, the pine needles eat into steel and they build up holding moisture whch makes it worse.

Yea, it's a shame isn't it? The mercedes is actually for sale, but the guy i spoke to wanted 4,000$ for it which is rather expensive consider what those usually goes for around here. I believe the Mustang is too, but I can't confirm it. They have both been there for a long, long time.

(Anorak mode on) Just in case anyone is interested..this is a Series1 two door 1968 Ford Taunus 12M they were built in Cologne and Genk in Belgium between 1966 & 1970 and were Ford Germany´s equivalent to the Escort. With frontwheel drive, McPhearson suspension, disc brakes it was miles ahead of the Escort which replaced it ...why do you think the Germans were not to happy with the MKI Escort when it came out? V4 with 50 BHP (although i did mangae to drop a 2.3 V6 into mine! ;D) and i ran one in the nineties as a daily driver..one of the most reliable cars i´ve ever had. (Anorak mode off) thankyoumuchly ;D

whats going on with those vdub buses? have they been used as Gabian baskets? The top one is quite well under way with its resto I think, the other two have been removed and I think are being restored, the middle that looks squashed has got a fairly good chassis, that concrete one is a very brave resto, it has no chassis numbers or any other id marks left, but it also has no back window which means its one of the first 10000 or so busses vw made, and not many of those are left anyway

Good god! Thats astonishing! Would be a awful if everything got crushed though, which it probably will I did a bit for following links and found the guys photobutck page. over 200 photos of the find. It looks to have been added to over the years as there is 90's stuff in there as well. The mustangs must be deeper into the forest. How do you end up with that many cars in one place? Must have been taking them as a service, free car removal or something and keeping the interesting ones for something? who knows.... Heres the link >> s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc114/bkl89/A few of the photos cheers
