Hm, maybe I should hit eBay... got a Tamiya Escort RS Cosworth sitting in the back of my garage, all complete and worked last time I checked... and a 'Bush Devil' monster truck by them too Probably worth more than my Victor right now, certainly more than my old Superminx... lol --Phil

Too right, I'll call the council tomorrow and see what they say Just phoned the council. They have left a note on the door asking the user of the garage to contact them (with the phone number of the general switchboard). Anyway, the chap named on the note on the door has said he will speak with his supervisor and get back to me. Which probably is bad news already

I'm not sure it is theft, if you move something to a place of safety and let the owner know what you have done and give them the opportunity to get it back. I'm unsure if id be willing to test that theory in court though.
If I were local id be tempted to move it and store it for the owner, theres no way its going to last much longer in there!

personally id leave the car... i know of an oval beetle (we know how much they fetch ) sitting in a local garage. it gets broken into monthly and damaged a bit more... then a neighbour (who also has no idea of the owner) comes and nails the garage door shut again.... so many times i could just take it.. but it would be theft as someone is still paying rent on the garage so there must be an owner.... only chance you may have is maybe shut the garage door thenleave a note?? and explain you shut the door and was wondering if its for sale or if they want rid???

Yeah its the same one, you can't really get stopped near it though without going up their drive and last time I passed there was someone in. There was also the old lada 1200 out towards Inverurie which had been there a similar amount of time went to take a pic a few weeks back to discover its gone now

Bet it is quite slow powered by a 1300! A mate had one as his first car back in the early 80's. Twin carb engine IIRC and quite nippy. Also, as with most Triumphs of that era, the interior was gorgeous. From memory, Sec 1 Theft Act 1968 "A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it." So if you have no intention to permanently deprive, it does not constitute theft. The minute you try to sell it on it becomes within the scope of theft.

Baz, I knew you'd be the expert (sir) However, I'd urge some further caution. Its fairly plain from the fact it was put away all those years ago rather than be scrapped that *someone* loved it. And they might be bigger than you... Seriously, I'd be pretty f*cking fuming if someone 'saved' one of my long-term project cars - hence why their locations are highly secret. I'd be opening a serious can of whoop-ass on anyone I found to have removed any of them, irrespective of their motives.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I've got a Matchbox Rancho somewhere. Neighbours used to have one, in blue. Never realised the back of it was fibreglass though.
