Had a rather damp day out today. For years this spot was occupied by a Minor. Last time it was still there but had been joined by a Gemini. This time the Minor has gone and the Gemini is in the spot. It is still registered - the beauty of having no annual roadworthy check But what is this lurking behind a gate round the corner? The Minor! No longer registered The stopped at a local sawmill on the way home and saw these 2. No idea what the thing under the tarp is. I suspect it is American.

Not in UK but in a dark forest somewhere in Calvados (14), in France ... a 1983 Volkswagen Passat B2, untaxed since 1996.
I don't know if it's a sedan or a sw ?

Not a sedan, sedans had long lights. Either a wagon or a hatch

Thanks ! Seems had rear doors it, it's a wagon.
Passat B2 hatch has never been sold in France, I don't know if it has been sold in UK ?
Another UK car abandoned in France this time in an abandoned farm in Eure (27) a 1998 Ford Granada Mk2 wagon, untexed since 2006. In this region (Normandy) many english people live there so wrecks registered in UK are not rare here.
The sedan was sold fairly well in France (here it was called Ford Scorpio), unlike the wagon which has always remained rare, and which is more so nowadays.
It is accompanied by a french car this time and from Paris (75), an unusual 1983 Cadillac Seville II. It will have been less lucky because it was vandalized.

Yeh I’d abandon one of those model Scorpio’s as well. Wow they were fugly monstrosities. I had two of the earlier models, hatchbacks. One was the 12v 2.9 & the other the 24v Cosworth. Fantastic motors, but Christ knows what they’d been smoking when they came up with those later pigs

My eyes would hurt everyday Went to a motorshow years ago, one with Clarkson, Needell and Wilson doing a jokey piece on stage In the words of clarkson; ‘Feeling a bit tired? Bit worn out, could do with a laugh?’ ‘Nip over to the Ford stand and take a look at the new Ford Granada!’ I bet the management were dead chuffed with that!

I was never sure why Ford did this, no hatch version, very Atlantic stying and use the Scorpio name instead of just calling it a Granada, a few years on though I reckon the later models with the different tail lights look quite good. ( or do I need help?😂).
