I take my hat off to you, its not easy working in the limited space that you have! It looks like I have a smidgen more than you and it gets so frustrating tripping over things, but keep up the good work it'l be worth it in the end.
Thanks Paul!
I do tread on things a little, and lose things when I've put them down right next to me and haven't moved (!), but it is bigger than a standard garage, so I am lucky.
It's ssurprising just how much space a little car takes up when it's not in one piece.
I'm so looking forward to it being back on 4 wheels again, and am hoping to get the V8 in this year!
Good work on your Manta. Shame about the splitter getting hit again. Great work on the inlet manifold/injection system - wild paint job!

This build is fantastic, and i'm glad one of my photos was useful from my build thread of my MKIV.
Hi Louisw, Thanks for this, your photo came in really handy! I didn't have one myself that clean and that angle. Do you still have your Spitfire?
Glad it was of some help! I do still have my spitfire but not touched it in years as its not at my house at the moment. Hoping to get it up again and continue the project! Would be stripping it down completely and moving away from OEM I think.

Small upadate - I finally got an inlet manifold! I was impatiant with waiting/looking, but miraculously this one came with the thermostadt housing, other water pipey thingy, and also what looks like a pertinax plate! I used some cleaning petrol to get it this clean, but needs ideally could be cleaner! The GT6 is now up on ramps/axles stands as I'm hoping to get the driver's side sill all finished this February. Bulkhead is finally almost down to bare-metal, and scuttle/top of bulkhead rubbed down a little to maake it smoother before some coats or primer. Tried the 8.5" rear wheel on the front - looks well wide! Need to re-paint the rims now they're back from being narrowed.

I also am further on with the driver's door. I hadn't realised just how many dents/little dings it had! It will be no-where perfect once done, but as long as it looks straight and I can get the panel gaps good, that should be fine 🙂 So, door and panel gaps to work some more on! And also, it's so great to have the door brace gone! I can technically sit in the driver's side again! Can't wait to get it back safely on all four wheels! Rear wheels will need a 3mm or 5mm spacer to get right close to the arches. This pic as is: These photos with a very rough 5mm spacer. I'll need to get the tyres on first though before I know what spacer size to get. Just need to finish the wheels and get them into paint then find a tyre fitter that can get the tyres back on 🙂🙂

So, the Offenhauser manifold is now on! Test fitment to check stuffs. It will get a new valley gasket!! And then a drop-base air filter base from America. This puts the bottom of the air filter 2" below the top of the carb. You can see my 2" element isn't therefore tall enough, so the air filter lid rests on the carb top. But with a 3" element, that shuld be fine.

The manifold ideally needs a bit of height milled off (as per mentioned earlier in this thread (thanks Darkspeed)), so hopefully will allow me to get the whole V8 amd carb/filter under the bonnet without mods 😃 I've also been battling with panel gaps and more filler work!

I feel dirty liking this. But I do. My nostrils feel dirty each time I exit the garage - filler dust needs removing! But more filler dust to come !!

Been a while, I hope everyone is keeping well in the current situation! I finally got my rear wheels finished (?!) and into paint. A tyre place just round the corner from the end of my road was miraculously able to mount the tyres too, which I really appreciated! The stretch is good, and 175 50s work well on the 8.5" wide. Then, I treated myself and got the car onto all fours for the first time since November 2019! I had added my second batch of camber spacers on the front, but it's definTely too much, so they'll be coming off again. Fun for a laff, but won't be good for daily use. Note to small chassis Triumph peeps. - If you are adding lots of front wishbone camber shims/spacers, as the lower wishbone is pushed further out, the car gets lower due to bottom mount of the shock absorber being mounted to the lower wishbone. I found this out (again) when lowering the GT6 down off the jacks and the sill/chassis got stuck on the floor! So I raised it a little after that! Grounded! Raised a bit and pushed outside! So good to have it back down again 😃😃

Nice project. Would look so much better just lowered without the stupid camber. Just my humble opinion, obviously.

I personally wouldn’t run that camber either..... But I’d stop and look at it as it drove past, and if I saw it at a show I’d stare for a long time.... and both of those scenarios would make me smile so thanks for building it, and hopefully I’ll get to stare at it one day

I think it too would be better without so much camber, but I suspose that without it you wouldn't get those wheels under the arches as they are and the whole look would be ruined if you added arch extensions.
I think that it just doesn't look like it would be nice to drive, but we aren't driving it, you are. So good on you.
