Well as the lovely Brittney once warbled, .....Oooops I did it again. Second manual conversion. ABZ 4.2 and AEW 3.7 engines both on 0A2 six speed boxes.
All thanks to this little chap. An 034 motorsports alloy flywheel insert. It fits into the auto flex plate so has the timing bumps in the correct place. Gearbox timing hole is not though, will show how I got round it in next post.
As usual, car manufacturers are not making things easy. Hole for timing sensor is completely wrong. Also is different between the engines, physically the same, capacity the same but timing not. Looking at the flywheel one would have the sensor at 8 oclock the other nearer 11. Fortunately I have both original auto boxes, so out comes Mr grinder. Cut a hole in the manual box.
Cut the corresponding bit from the auto box, add the end from a 13mm drill as a dowell.
Spend most of a day filing the bits till they are square and fit together ( note to self, mend the milling machine)
