Feeling frustrated.
There appears to be an overnight leak from the waterpump area 🤐
I also paid 120 quid to Kwikfit to do 4 wheel alignment yesterday. After driving away, I immediately returned; it handled like a drunk rhino and the steering wheel wasn't straight. They apologised and tried again - wheel is still not straight 😣 it was before. The other pump was fine before replacing, too. If it broke don't fix it comes to mind.. 😏

That is frustrating especially after forking out good money. Had similar experience with a Halfrauds wheel alignment centre!

Why o why would you ever trust Kwik Fit?? Doesn't make sense to a fellow petrol head! You need one of them proper alignment company with the proper kit and someone who knows how to use it.

I went to them with my Towncar and they worked really hard to remove stuck, knackered nuts and bolts. Even got heat in on it. They have 4 wheel laser alignment gear in the local place and they did a great job on the Towncar - and my XJ8. They've totally dropped the ball here, though. It's 2 year guarantee service so I can go back up to 8 times for this price. I'll be calling to let then know I'll be back soon and expect a perfect job. Generally feeling a bit low about it all but I'm sure time will heal it! Gonna get it washed on the way to the zoo this morning to try and rejuvenate some mojo.

It's hurting a fair bit at the moment to be fair! If I had time, I'd do these jobs myself as I used to. Family man these days! Can't even wash it 😂

On closer inspection I'm thinking the brand new waterpump is toast. It sometimes leaks over night and sometimes doesn't; I've had that symptom before with worn waterpumps as it depends where it's settled when you shut the engine off- I can also hear the bearing whirring rhythmically. Bad news is its a full on cambelt and everything else off job to get to it as it's essentially the width of the engine.

at these times in a project when you feel the most low...keep in mind, after great determination, that you will get satisfaction in the end....you just have to keep at it!....
I wish I could take my own advice, of course!.....
Its not always easy to make people do right by you.....
Get the Mojo meter back where it belongs and go get em!

With the mojo fluctuating, I figured I'd have a go of de-friendlying the LS400's big face. Before: After: (well - during, I guess!) I've only managed one side so far and I'm not sure when I'll get to the other side... The jury's out on the look. Certainly looks meaner - I wonder if they're a bit big for it to work well, but I'll have to wait until I get the other side done to know for sure. The cheap Flyeyes copy stuff is so much more difficult to work with. I know it's not warm outside at the mo, but it ripped so easily - I've barely got enough left for the other side! Genuine Flyeyes film is far superior. Garage is taking it on Monday to replace the faulty waterpump. Fingers crossed.

Found half an hour to do the other side. Thoughts?

I think the chrome of the grille makes it look a little meh, if you could tone that down without going black it would look nice I think.

I think I might do the fog lights to see if it ties in well. I'll run it about like this and see if I like it - if not I'll just take 'em off!

Just got her back - garage found that the thermostat housing was leaking at the mounting face and have sorted it. Fingers crossed that's the end of the leaking and I can get back to enjoying it.
Side note: headlight tints growing on me..

Missed this - sorry dude! No real updates - more of a running report! Continuing to daily it and continuing to love it! Can't remember how thoroughly I went through the Kwikfit alignment debacle but, long story short, they massively cocked up the alignment, had 3 attempts at it over a few months, charged me nearly 150 quid, and led me to believe it was not repairable. I then paid a local Lexus specialist £40 and it drives like a new car. Lesson learned! 😂 It was great through the cold snap we had - great heated seats and strong heater; although now ithink about it, is the second winter I've owned it... unprecedented! The wide wheels gave me some interesting moments in the snow though! The transmission's snow mode works fairly well, however. The boot carpet has been getting wet and I've traced it to the boot seal on the driver's side. I've temporarily removed the carpet and taken a drain plug out. Looking to buy a new seal soon. Bit skint at the mo; my wife is on maternity leave and we're building an extension on the house to fit all of the small humans in. There's not a lot of spare car funds so I've limited myself to a new brake bulb (only went out in November) which had made my brake warning light turn off (bonus - thought it was fault pad sensors!) and a magic tree. 😂 Due to funds I've tried to see how good i can get the fuel consumption on an average tank of commuting... managed 27mpg. Pretty decent for a circa 300bhp luxury barge! Although it was fairly boring thinking about mpg constantly. Gonna just drive normally for the next tank and see what the difference is!

Well - once again, not really an update but she ticked over to 130k yesterday. I think I've done about 15k in it! I've had it for ages now! I keep seeing cars i'd like, but the Lexus is just too good to swap it. There was a beautiful XJ8 at the top of my road for 1500 and i was so tempted by it but the Lexus has been so trouble free (any trouble hasn't been its fault - tracking/faulty new stat etc.) that i feel I'd be an idiot to get rid of it. I can't really live the 'potentially unreliable daily' life at the moment. It's a bloody good job I still love it then, really! Would love to get the bumper painted/replaced and to lower the front. I'd also like to remove the centre boxes for a bit more growl. The driver's seat is a little worn so replacing that'd be good too. However, as previously mentioned, i barely have time to top up the washers at the moment!

Go for a darker tape around the entire bottom part of the bumper...no really...darker silver/grey...
would the tint stick to the grille surround?...not sure about that...just thinking budget and what you might have on hand.
amber fogs?...hmmm. not sure about that either.
I do like the tinted headlights from almost every angle...a win, I would say.
glad it is treating you well. 27mpg overall is great..but I understand how much work and self restraint that takes!

JP The tint wouldn't stick to the grill unfortunately. It needs a bigger flat surface line the headlamp. Still not managed to tinit the fogs! Yellow might be an interesting ahout, though... Yeah - averaging 27mpg over the working week has to be in driving Miss Daisy mode!
