Best I could find was 225/40. tyrestretch.com/7.5-225-40-R18/245/45 will look a bit pony. If you fit coilovers you'll want the lower profile so you don't rub the inner arches.

Cheers mate - although the budget won't be stretching to coilovers any time soon! I want the tyres to be as wide as possible on the wheels (at least at the back). If the budget was better I'd have bought wider wheels but, alas, it's not so!

Just driven to London from the Wirral and back this weekend. It was an absolute joy to drive down and cruise about London in the heat - and I'm well impressed with its MPG:

Made up to let you guys know that the check engine light flash and not revving past 5000rpm has gone completely. It's been fine ever since returning from our trip to London - my theory is that 9 hours round trip at relatively constant rpm has warmed the engine sufficiently to loosen any solidified oil from the VVTi system.
Win! - It goes well by the way - 😎

Win! - It goes well by the way - 😎 Good news! Nearly got one in Malaysia, but too much jungle bashing to be done. When I got my P38, with no history, it ran pretty poorly, plus a colander for an exhaust didn't help. It then went on a diet of new plugs, leads, filter, etc., but the best thing was a 300km round trip to Subic Bay. Since then, it's had sport cats, gets oil change every two months (mileage and hours run are two different things here) and a blast every Sunday. It improved every week. Today was 100km to Niac, Dasmariñas then home. My neighbour has a new Ford Something and was asking why he couldn't hear my engine running! I'll never see +30mpg though! You are getting there.

There's certainly something to be said for using a car a lot!
Even though it's recently had a change I'm going to drop the oil soon as if I'm right there'll be little bits of old crud in there. I'll just find out the best oil for a 98 1-uzfe and go from there.
It's great knowing that it's running as it should. Whilst it doesn't have the instant shove of my ally XJ8 it does pick up bloody well for a car that must be a hefty old weight.
On to 'build' progress - my current tyre choice is 245 45 18 - it won't knock the speedo out, and i think that these wheels on this car need sidewall. If they were bigger and i was slamming it into the weeds I'd go lower profile, but i want it to look meaty. I'm not lowering it any time soon, and if i do it won't be slammed due to daily practical family-car needs. I'm just hoping it'll look as i imagine...

Realised that one of my Lensos is buckled - not just a slight bend in the lip. I'm gutted as I realised when I was about to fit tyres on them. So I'm on the lookout for one to replace it with. The car's been fantastic as my daily - and not as bad on fuel as you'd think. I think my combined overall mpg is roughly 25mpg; some weeks a little more, some weeks a little less. Sadly, the rev thing has crept back in, i wonder if I'd changed the oil when it was fine if it would've made it a permanent fix. I've just got sod all time to do anything!

Irish VRT really kills the market for big engined cars in Ireland unless they are newer low emission diesels. I have a few friends running v8 Audi’s, S8s, RS6s, etc or Merc’s spending almost €2k per year on each car, it’s scandalous. Have to wait until they get old enough to run on classic tax, is that still at 30 years old ?

Just a suggestion but might it be easier to get the wheel straightened? yesterday at 2:13am quickrack1 said: Just for the craic I checked the road tax here for that. €1809=£1585 for a years tax no part of which is refundable btw..... Always liked these. My mate got one in '99 ( I think) brand new as a company car. Beautifully equipped , a lovely place to be and went liked a stabbed rat when he 'got on it'. I also recall being impressed that the handbook came on a CD playable through the ICE It was 1999 in my defence...........

Loving the 400 mate..what happened to capri??its been a while since iv been on here Still got the Capri - was using it about a year ago till the MoT ran out. It's hibernating now! With baby number 2 landing in around 5 weeks, the Lexus is the sensible (300hp V8) car!

So on closer inspection, 3 of my wheels weren't straight! Took them to a repair place and they advised weighing them in... so I did on the way home! Got £40 back. Seller has gone suspiciously quiet.
Ah well - you win some you lose some. I've lost some cash but learned a lesson. And it just so happens that a set of the wheels I originally wanted (but couldn't find for sensible money) just popped up on our favourite auction site! They're Paisly Freighting their way to my ass as we speak. I've gone for the universally despised SC430 'pie-dish' wheels... i know - but i think they'll look awesome against the massive flanks of the LS. Just need to save some cash for some tyres now! 245/45/18 are the most likely flavour.
