Many, many current distractions - I had a trip over to visit a certain Mr blackpopracing who had mentioned several moons ago that he had a piece of kit at work that was surplus to requirements Duly purchased - It just fitted into the P38 (I run it without the rear seats fitted) Once reassembled 4' Box Pan folder which gives me a lot more flexibility when forming repair sections Which means I can now retire my 2' Gabro folder - don't know how I've managed for so long with just a 2' folder but I have - its probably been finding its replacement that has held me back has most sheet metal folders are way too large / industrial / heavy for what I need and I don't have the workshop space to house a oversize folder - this 4' one is just the ticket for what I need Will it fold 3mm plate Chris you still have the parts? Pete - Don't know is the answer I have to get to have a play & get to grips with it first - if not I now know of someone with a hydraulic press brake (so do you come to that)

I can tell you now it's not built to do 3mm. You might be able to bend it but it will be a big radius. That folder is designed for up to 2mm.

Having completed the stitching the back is now being assembled on the Javelin bench seat (brown one - SWMBO also has a full retrim underway on another Javelin in maroon)

Mrs GN is still making decent progress with the Javelin bench seat But this is proper old school type automotive upholstery - none of your vacuum moulded foam and a stretched cover over it here I'm informed that my help is required tomorrow to stretch the leather and hold into place while she tacks up to the frame

will the folder be fully de-grumped before passing over the south and north downs? last thing we need is the contamination spreading over here and getting a grumpy southerner

It would take him 3 weeks as if it was not shiny enough he'd have to do it again

Following the lead taken by Mr blackpopracing I ordered these And then fitted them - fortunately I could still access the cables has these had been run in the eves which were not over boarded This now gives me the ability to switch the outside workshop lamps on / off (these two at the front and a third one adjacent to the side door at the rear of the workshop) - Remotely with this And it works from the top of the lane too - this will make life so much easier - being able to pull up with the trailer behind me and then then just click the lights on to assist with backing down the unlit lane - likewise when leaving the workshop on the dark evenings - I don't have to go across the yard any more to trigger the PIR on the floodlamp on the rear of the house then head back to the workshop to turn the workshop outside lighting off There is a phase 2 lighting project once I get on with the patio & fencing later this year - that will see low level lighting installed down the side of the hedgerow for the upper section of the lane making it even easier on the dark nights - again I will link this to remote switching
Chris - I have been looking for a remote system like this for ages to use with an outside light over the door of a community hall for which myself and several others are key holders. Trouble is, with the rubbish led street lights, at night, we find that locking up, in our own shadow is difficult. Hence wanting a key fob style remote to turn an outside light on and off from the outside. Thank you so much for the lead on this. In your case, I would also hook one up to your new winch. You can then control the winch and steer the car into your workshop from the driver's seat. I'm sure that you or one if your followers can sort out how to hook a unit up to the contol switch of the winch.

Many distractions abound at Grumpy Towers Have had to do a lot shuffling at the barn recently - I agreed to help friends out by moving & storing their Pulsar project whilst they relocate / move house - then build the garage - you wouldn't think it to look at it but what I call the barn (it's an old cart shed) - Its currently a Tardis though has I've somehow managed to squeeze 9 cars into it Also been to collect a stash of parts from a elderly members garage - he has been a member of the Jowett Car Club for a significant number of years but now hanging up his boots on driving and having to go into residential care So a pile of of useful used Jowett parts donated to the clubs spares scheme 'Jowett Car Spares' - a element of which are scrap but I wanted to clear the garage for him and I shall arrange disposal - the rest are all viable and a future task is to get these up to Bradford where the clubs stores are located The stash includes a full set of seats in very good order for a Javelin - they have normally fallen apart by this age but to find a set in this condition with a nice patina is gold dust (does not mean that they are worth a fortune though) Meanwhile Mrs GN is on with another set of Bradford van seats New ply seat backs that we had formed Back at home I have managed to free some space up - so this Jag XK8 project has been moved on to a fellow RR member and will probably grace the 'Build Thread' once some progress is made upon it
