I think it's only a matter of time before I head over to the dark side and pick up a KG. The only thing stopping me so far has been the potentially scary rust issues (even compared with beetles) and the affordability of body parts, but other than that, I can only fight the urge for so long! Has anyone owned or still owns a KG or a T34 - it's bigger even more coachbuilt brother?

Yeah, I had one from 1998 to about 2005. Mechanically they're all Beetle, bodily you can get a decent amount of repro stuff and Californian body cuts. Rubber stuff is all reproduced too. Buy an American import project car, as original as possible. It'll be basically dry, seals rotted out and covered in small dents, but probably need floorpan doing. Look on thesamba classifieds to tempt yourself! Forgot to say, mine is now owned by VW on here.

A guy I work with has a KG as his daily driver He bought a LHD hard top American import so pretty much rust free He upgraded the 1.3 to a 1.6 and freeway flyer gearbox and lowered it a bit
In the time his owned it (3 years) it's been trouble free I know he welded two small plates recently and that's it

I had it about a year or two, put new front inner wings and a new beam on it, made it waaaaay too fast for how low it was, then sold it 😁.

I thought you'd still got it!
I had a load of pictures of when I replaced most of the right hand side (floor, heater channel etc) but lost them in a computer change. I can highly recommend buying body cuts - makes lining stuff up much easier.

Love a KG, love a razor-edge even more! Also have a lot of love for a 411 square-back which can't be mentioned without also saying SP-1!

I think I like the look of them more with the different coloured (usually white) roof compated with one colour all over - what do you think?
Was it an option or how they came bitd?

Oooh, an early lowlight^^ HoTWire Very nice I think my favourite ever Ghia was one that showed up at the Gathering in 2012. I think karat tcd by Nick Liassides, on Flickr karat r by Nick Liassides, on Flickr I have a massive amount of schwing for that Saw the greeny one at the Classic Car Show and while it's an awesome resto, better than new in every respect, they somehow seem to just lend themselves to the ratted-out look... but escape the worst of the roofrack-roadsign-hurricane-lamp scene rubbish that blights too many rat Beetles

Because if you don't love a Typ34 on Cosmics, well, you're wrong.
