Third set of wheels look best. Could you source some Euro headlamps through one of the German RR members? Those US ones could only be loved by their mother... Maybe on the euro lights, probably some modified US lights for now. The CLK55 wheels are cool but I’m leaning toward the Forgelines right now

Trans installed, ran out of time but after installing shifter bushings (it hadn’t had them for a long time) I found that at some point the PO had adjusted the linkage to be tight without them. It’s all rusted tight so I threw the whole linkage in a tub of evaporust. Should be good by Monday.

I'm liking the 2nd set of wheels myself. A bit different.

. My brother just asked if I really pulled the trans with a 10 and five screwdrivers, I pointed out that I used a hammer and a floor jack as well... haha

Eh, the point is for a cheap driver that looks good, I figured I’d be $2000 into a set of do it yourself bags with control so it’ll just get springs.

I found that I had bent the shift linkage while removing the original trans so after straightening that, installing new bushings and clips I let it run up to operating temps to check fluid levels and for leaks. All good. Also test fit the Centras I’ll be running till I figure what set I want to run long term (and buying tires for them) and they look pretty good. Need to borrow my brothers spring compressor to put the drop springs in and it ready to roll.

Drove 40 miles or so on Wednesday evening but as I came to a light I had smoke billowing up from the engine compartment. Found the trans pan gasket to be leaking and an unknown oil leak under hood. Happily I was close to the house so I took it back and turned it off. One bolt was LOOSE but I’m not sure how that happened so I’ll keep an eye on it. I will degrease the engine bay and run it with some uv dye to try to track my oil leak.

New trans pan gasket and retightened it still leaks, I’ve tried to straighten the pan but it won’t stay flat. The replacement trans pan was damaged upon removal (probably by a fork truck) so I can’t salvage it. I ordered a new pan, motor mounts, rear muffler and a valve cover gasket to fix a couple other little issues.
In other news it has been inspected, taxed and titled. I took standard plates not historic since they plan to drive it extensively and mileage is frowned upon with the historic plates. No pics so here have a banana!

New trans pan from MB installed, theeeen the dipstick was still leaking so fixed that and boom no more leaks.
Lowered on vogtland springs and stock mb struts since they were on sale, it looks pretty good on the Centras although I need to grab the other two...

I also traded the old Momos from my 944 for a set of 18” Work Eurolines in 5x114. Think they are to big “looking” although I’ve seen them look good on other people’s W124. These are tough anyway so not really ready to pop on something.

800 miles under its belt, have to fix an exhaust leak and get the rear wheels mounted but it’s doing well in daily rotation.... I don’t know what the deal is with that truck but I’ve not seen a six wheeled Chevy pickup like that before!
