Ok peteh1969 said create a thread for my car so here goes.It was a Ford experimental 2 door V4 Corsair GT given to Norwich Technical College for apprentices to learn their trade in 1968. The difference is that the rear chassis where the rear spring hangers are has been cut off and moved 2 inches upwards and 2 inches outboard of the chassis rails and the front spring mounts 2 inches lower and 2 inches inboard of the chassis rails. In addition there is a bracket like the anti tramp bracket on the outside of the chassis that has nothing attached to it but looks like it cold be for an antiroll bar drop link. It was sold and put on the road in 1980 and was given a W reg which I had to change to get Historic Tax rate when I bought it. It does not have a Ford chassis number butit was mad up from the owner and his wifes birthdays! I bought it in 1999, restored the body and made a few mods such as rack and pinion, 2 litre EFi Pinto and 5 speed, Rover Sterling leather seats, stereo, big brakes and 16 inch rims. It has been in Classic Ford Mag a couple of times. I ran it like this as a daily for 12 years before deciding it needed a refresh. I took it off the road 5 years ago and stripped it and had it sandblasted. It came back like a T bag holes everywhere! My health is not good and got a lot worse so my son Johnathan took over at first and started cutting out and replacing stuff. Laterly a mate came to help once a week (Ady Mothersole) and work progressed. Now its had replacements to front slam panel both front wings, door skins, sills, both back wings, back panel, rear valance, bonnet and boot as well as 80% of the chassis.Fibreglass wheel arches liners are added in the front wings.
Now painted I am nearly there. It should have been out in 2017 but a snapped Achilles Tendon put paid to that! With everyone going first Pinto power then Zetec and Duratec I though I would be different and go back to a V4 but with a difference. Using a NOS short engine it has unleaded ported heads Burton high pressure oil pump, Brise light weight alternator, high torque starter, alloy rocker covers, polished alloy bits and stainless bolts with a type 9 five speed box on the back. But on top its fed with a Webcon Retroject throttle body controlled by an Emerald ECU. Engine bay is wire tucked and a one off aircleaner sits on top with a K&N filter. Wheels are 8 and 7x15 Compomotive FH split rims. Every nut and bolt has been replaced with zinc plated high tensile or stainless where appropriate as well as all new seals and bearings, brakes, pipes and braided hoses with brass unions. Front calipers are Hi-Spec 4 pots on Renault 21 discs and alloy hubs, rear are 9 inch drums. Front struts are Corsair converted to coil overs with Volvo 240 GAZ adjustable inserts and top mounts, located with adjustable TCA's and a tension strut. Rear end is Escort single leaves and AVO shocks. Interior is still Rover leather but recoloured red with new headlining that I fitted myself. Big thanks to my Wife Janet and Johnathan my son as well as Ady Mothersole and Graham Reach for their help and understanding. Its cost a LOT of money but once started you really cant stop. If you have read this far well done here are some photos.
