I decided that having too many big budget builds is a bit much so I took the opportunity to do a bit of horsepower trading. I sold the rx7 & bought this Nissan Gloria. The difference is the Rx7 was a full on project & this needs a bit of tidying. I only picked it up today so I haven't got many details or climbed around it to see what's what. Basically it's a 3 litre factory turbo car with an auto gearbox. This model is the top of the range Gran turismo model but I'll be honest I don't know what extra spec that gives me as of yet. It does have digital speedo cluster & digital stereo/climate control. Anyway the car was modified in Japan & imported as you see it now. It has 18" wheels, coilovers, front mount intercooler, a huge 3" exhaust & an air intake system. It has the J style mash up of wedging as many gauges into the car as possible & the steering wheel once was a very sort after vip effort from Italy. Also all the vent surrounds & window switches have been retrimmed. Here's a few pics for now until I can get around it tomorrow

I took that first photo outside my work I clocked the RX7 on the trailer today as I was heading to my workshop, the Gloria is a stupidly cool car.

Back lights look like W140, front like X300 and late 90’s Bentley Turbo R.
It’s cool.

I see W126 grille and XJ40 rear quarters. Interior is actually nicer than I thought for most early 90s Japanese saloons. That steering wheel could be valuable, a lot of those can be repaired and some wheels go for big money these days to “period” modders

After all that I plugged the stereo back in now the loom is isolated & the screen now flickers but I have no control of the screen! I have a few vids but I don't have any way of uploading them! As for the steering wheel if anyone can make use of it they're welcome too it.

Started off the day by pulling all the gauge looms out, then went on to pull the cd multi changer out & all the leads. Went on to pull a huge amp out of the boot & all associated wiring including a huge power lead up to the battery. The only part of the wiring I left in was the coolant sensor & the oil temp plug from the gauges. The plan is to refit a few gauges but in a slightly better position. Then I started to knock off the ugly from the interior. Pulled off the steering wheel & changed it for the nardi out of my 200sx s13. I then pulled all the beauty covers off the heater vents, window switches & ash trays. Luckily they are just held on with double sided foam tape. Where the gauges were located turned out to be the glove box lid. There is no glove box liner or latch anymore so the plan is to cover the lid with fabrich, rehinge it & hold it in place with Velcro. I've decided to use expanding foam to fill I'm the holes & then I'll trim it down & covery. So here's the lid with plastic stretched tight ready for the foam. I also jacked up the front to inspect the suspension & work out wheel widths & offsets. It looks like the coilovers are genuine as apposed to a mash up of brands. I also pulled the rear wheels off to check out the rear set up. This looks the same as 200sx & skyline. Bilstein coilovers all round, lovely.

After working out offset I have these figures. Front wheels; 18x9.5 et -10. Rear wheels; 18x10.5 et +3. This is how I came to these figures. With the wheel on a flat surface measure through the wheel to the back of the wheel with a straight edge across the wheel from lip to lip. Then measure from the hub to the straight edge as above. Divide the 1st measurement by 2 then take away the 2nd measurement from that total. Front wheel;1st measurement was 257mm. 2nd measurement was 138mm. 257÷2=128mm 128-138= -10 et.
Rear wheel;1st measurement was 282mm 2nd measurement was 138mm 282÷2=141mm 141-138= +3 et.
I hope that looks right. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

that's going to be very nice once the "gash-ometer" has been dialled back to acceptable levels. the japs really do love to nark about with wiring don't they?! I pulled a bucket-load of totally redundant cable out of swmbo's bongo when we first got it.

I pulled a bucket-load of totally redundant cable out of swmbo's bongo when we first got it. It had 2 radar detectors, 5 gauges of which 2 were boost & 1 didn't even work. There was a multi CD player output screen, an hks turbo timer. I found leads to 2 amps & loads of speaker wiring. I've still got a bit more to do to make it a nice place to be. Awesome looking car dude, very rare and under appreciated by most people! If you want to get rid of any of those gauges let me know! Love where the car is going bet it doesn't hang about either! Thanks mate, I really love it which I didn't expect to do. I'm in 2 minds what to do with the gauges but I'm going to refit a few. To say it's a surprising rocket is an understatement.

Did a quick job of covering the glove box lid. The material is thick enough to hold the lid in position so saves any faffing around. I've spent most of the day trying to sort the audio with no success!

When I first scrolled down to that interior I was a little taken aback lol. Wow. Total transformation back to traditional black Japanese plastic. Good work.
