It’s an absolutely terrible program. I mean even if you’re a petrol head, as we are, it’s pretty much unwatchable & if they get rid of the token bird, it might stand half a chance. It seems to happen a lot now, they all try to be PC & inclusive or whatever other BS slant they want to put on it. She’s supposed to be some hot sh1t welder, yeh right, about as convincing as Flashdance

It's just people whinging about something they don't enjoy because they are incapable of changing a channel. Or maybe they enjoy having something to complain about. Might as well be watching Love Island or whatever.

It's just people whinging about something they don't enjoy because they are incapable of changing a channel. Or maybe they enjoy having something to complain about. Might as well be watching Love Island or whatever. While I respect that the rules are the rules I see this a bit differently. If Love Island comes on I'll turn it off, and not whinge about it online as its not important to me and people can watch what they want. The difference is that GWG is about a subject I'm passionate about. Not only that, I'm also passionate about how our hobby is painted to the rest of the public. When I feel disappointed about how my favourite subject being presented in a way I don't like, I turn to a place where I know everyone else has the same passion and discuss it. I accept that some people may disagree, and maybe that will help me to feel less disappointed by seeing the good points. On the other hand I may find that its not just me and other people agree, and feel better about venting. I think discussion is healthy, as it turns out this thread highlighted lots of good TV / Youtube, so its not that everyone is negative for the sake of it, they are genuine views spoken among fellow enthusiasts. Just my thoughts.

Yes that's my point this thread did highlight some good alternatives and now it is back restating stuff people apparently already knew. Do we have to restate this every time a new series comes on? Clearly this program isn't for you, and I'm making an assumption but I'm guessing people already know by now if it is for them or not. The only TV based car things I watch are the Kindig Customs one when I get the chance and tangentially Salvage Hunters. I know I don't enjoy the rest of them, so I don't feel the need to come and waste valuable posting time telling ya'll how much I don't like the latest series of Top Gear or whatever, time that could be better spent sharing ones love and passion for cool old cars by posting better stuff than is on GWG...

This is one of those subjects that I have some opinions about, but ( depending on my mood at the time ) it doesn't really matter if I express them.
So I really couldn't remember if I'd replied to this one or not.
( turns out I did...)
But is there an easier way to see if you replied to a thread than looking at each page?

I usually look at recent posts to see that On a more positive note, new series of ‘Car SOS’ (sausage?) starts early February on satellite 😀 Not sure if it’s already been on the pay channels?

But is there an easier way to see if you replied to a thread than looking at each page? If on a PC - no idea on tablets or phones - you have the participated tab which will tell you if you have contributed to a thread or not.

I have to admit that I gave up on tv quite a while ago, the same drivel over and over, I think it was when I was watching the ‘PorrIdge’ film again for about the 30th time, and it occurred to me that it was made about 40 years ago! I’ve gone back to radio. Specifically DAB so I can select ‘my’ type of music (rock, since you asked) which leaves me free to do things while I’m listening, like working on my own cars rather than watching others do things , either well or badly, and I’ve actually achieved something since then! Also I find that having music on helps me to concentrate better, and reduces the amount of tools being launched across the yard when something invariably does go wrong.......😱

The front was terrible from the side and the back not much better BUT the new beetle was so close to being something i nearly liked i didn't like the front of the bonnet not having a lip all the way round it seemed to be just single skin metal .... i couldn't do better and sound like i am moaning again as i still didn't like it but it i think it kind of showed something but ...argh don't know why i'm commenting just saying i think it was close.

I quite like The Sweeney as a Retro car show. It’s a kind of parallel universe version of London that looks familiar but not quite right (depending on your age). I think they are copying Life on Mars as some kind of in joke that goes over my head. They always put some rarities in the background of each episode and don’t blur out the number plates so you can see if the car is taxed.
The presenters imply they are connected to the police but don’t seem to do anything about the de-banded narrow wheels trend which is clearly dangerous as all the cars tested with them swerve and skid at 10mph.
The last episode I saw tested how fast baseball players with obscured vision could unload from the rear of a transit which I think was a bit too Top Gear as far as contrivance goes.
I’m sure I’ve heard the theme tune somewhere before though - maybe Ski Sunday
