Sorry if it was against the rules - Last night I put an advert in the 'bits for sale section' for a motorbike that's in my garage in bits. I thought that would be the best place for it as its disassembled and 'in bits.' It is retro (properly retro, early 80's) and as such appeals to most of us here. I know there was a retro motorbike forum but it hasn't been used in the last 3 years, honestly, circa half a dozen posts in 3 years. If my placement was against the rules, I genuinely apologise. If that is the case can we set up a little motorbike section? Same retro rules, same ethos etc? Cheers, Lightyearman

Doubtful. It's a car forum, there are loads of motorbike forums. Otherwise we may as well have a retro train section, retro yacht, retro dining room chairs.. Well, OK, that is a bit OTT, but you get my drift. That's why we have 'readers other mods'

Well, OK, that is a bit OTT, but you get my drift. That's why we have 'readers other mods' I understand, but as you said: we do! The readers other modifications section is massively popular, why not just have another little sub heading for bikes? It can have projects and trading all under one small banner. It would keep as much traffic as possible on this forum, keeping everyone's retro motoring hobbies together. We wouldn't be poaching from other forums as there is nothing quite like RR (with the possible exception of AS, granted) It is 'RetroRides' after all. Any thoughts?

The readers other modifications section is massively popular, why not just have another little sub heading for bikes? It can have projects and trading all under one small banner. I'm on your side on this one, there's a growing number of owners of both. There are a few threads on 'other mods' about bikes which stay, a few have been bought and sold on there too. I personally think it would be a benefit to the forum to have a small sub-section for 2 wheelers, including ads, because... ...there are loads of motorbike forums... ...but nothing that quite serves from an RR perspective. There's power ranger ones, super-rad-dude chopper ones, dirt bike ones, adventure rider ones, cafe racer ones, classic ones and make specific ones. The only remotely close one I can think of is the Bike Shed forum.thebikeshed.cc/ which is also pretty quiet... However, your ad was pulled because it was in the car parts for sale.

I personally agree, it is Retro Rides...
It's only a sub-section, it's not as if its going to over-take the main forum with bikes and there might be a few members who dabble with both, I know I do.

Sold my old Yamaha Jog through this site - Car related - yep - it was sold as Van breakdown insurance Perhaps the Mods first love was stolen away from him by a biker and he now hates them all.... Saving up for a Brutale Re posting as a bike engine for sale - very car related judging by the number of conversions I see - with associated cycle parts would only get removed by the coldest of hearts - LOL

Same as other folk - lots of different stuff interests me. The "Readers other modifications" has plenty of variety (bikes, DIY, tools, carboot finds) and is always active. I'm sure a "bikes and other stuff for sale" would be popular, but there's also folk who don't want stuff like that. Shake hands and agree to disagree

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one running this train of thought, a little motorbike sub heading would only add more value to the RR community I'm sure I understand why my add was pulled (even though others have done broadly the same and not been pulled) but I understand and its certainly no hard feelings! Can we get some admin folk involved in this, maybe see about trialing a motorbike subsection? There is so much potential crossover of interests it can only do good things I'm sure

This in particular : ...there are loads of motorbike forums... ...but nothing that quite serves from an RR perspective. [/quote] Every aspect of RR such as garage builds, readers rides etc can be found in other similar forums, but nothing quite the same as this parish. That's why a RR motorbike section would be so well received I reckon.

I've got to say that I agree with this. It really is time we had a motorcycle section. I know nothing about web design or anything like that, but honestly, how hard would it be to add on a section for motorcycle build threads alongside the car build threads, and another section for motorcycle sales in the for sale section?

*1 Bikes please. I'd rather see bikes on here than read about someone building a shed or making things from skipfinds, but I don't moan about those kinds of threads because a) I'm not a dick and b) it's kinda a big forum and there's loads of room. If you don't want to read about bikes/sheds/skips/cats/whatever, how about not clicking on that particular thread? Jeez. So intolerant...

Personally I love the 'other modifications' random skip finds, garage builds etc, they are mega and I hope to get my garage build up soon. But as you rightly say... There is plenty of room for bikes too, and it makes a lot more sense than house renovations etc to me

We only just got the Small Torque section this year for model car topics - and sales+swaps. Maybe the boss only needs a little more time to consider something similar for the 'less wheels' fraction?! Haha, we aren't expecting it to pop up right this second But this diversity with the small Torque section etc, its all good stuff! Now we just need space for the Bi-Wheelers
